The E30 M3 look is not a 'kit'. You do realize that the the only common body
panels shared between the E30 M3 and the other E30's is the hood, sunroof
panel, and the mirrors? Everything else is totally unique to the M3. Could
it be done? Yes, and it has been, but why? For the amount of money you would
pay to procure the M3 body panels and properly modify the normal E30, it
would be much easier and cheaper to sell the normal E30 and take some of the
modification/parts money and buy a true E30 M3. Then you would have a car
that would truly be worth something and would hold its value (and if current
trends continue increase in value) for a long time.
Methinks someone needs to read up on what the E30 M3 is and what it means to
BMW history....

Yeah your right, but this seemed like the best place to come for advice,
i've been offered these parts off an original E30 M3 described as a "kit"
which included front/rear arches side skirts, front and rear bumper for £300
which I thought was quite a good price and worth doing simply as a project I
might keep or sell. I suspected that it might have at least different
fixtures to a standard 3 series coupe, so I thought it wise to ask those who
know before making a rash purchase which I thank you for.

I seriously doubt that those items would bolt up to make a "kit" resembling
anything like what one would normally consider a kit to be. A good bodyman
could probably graft those on to your ride -- the front fenders (they're not
arches you add on, it is an entire fabricated fender) might bolt up but the
rears would need to be cut off and the new ones welded in. I'm not sure
that the doors are the same, by memory I'm about 90% sure they're different,
and the rear deck lid is actually a different size so you might have a
serious issue to deal with there either by sourcing more M3 body parts to
finish it up, or cusomizing what's there.
So, in fact anything *can* be done but I think you'd be buying a world of
pain... or at least a huge bill from a competant bodyman to assemble it.
As proof that it's possible, there was a guy that grafted on M3 bodywork to
a Touring -- a mammoth job that they agreed was nearly ludicrous but it was
sort of a "because we could" deal, on a car they had spent a fortune
modifying already. Lots of custom cutting, welding and fabrication was
involved. Can't find the link but it was a facinating web page showing all
the gory pics of the job.

I think the E30 M3 is the most "kit" looking car that BMW ever produced. I
love the tenent of the design,: Lightweight w/ high revving 4 cylinder
engine. But the body work just screams "Boy Racer" to me. I have been
tempted several times to pick one up, but just can envision it sitting in
the driveway.

One reason for that might be that BMW intended to bring the E30 M3 as a
basic car for racing. All the aerodynamic parts, which will only do a
significant benefit on the race track, are already mounted, the gearbox
is a racing type. AFAIK the E30 M3 is one of the most successful racing
cars of the world, which even nowadays wins a race once in a while (Last
E30 M3 I saw on victrory tour was at 24 hours race at Nürburgring).
Other cars of that breed are the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, the Subaru
Impreza WRC and the Audi Quattro Coupé sport. They all look ridiculous,
but they save you work if you are looking for a basic car for motor
sports.

Most of the E30 M3 parts will not fit to a normal E30, because the doors,
the rear end and the roof are different. Besides this good M3 parts are
quite rare, so I would not waste them for something different.
