Except that nobody in Indycars has the weight that Ferrari does in F1.
I'd suspect that wherever Ferrari goes will be considered the real
Grand Prix championship. I bet the only reason Toyota hasn't signed
on is they hope they'll finally get a Formula 1 constructors title
after spending all that money ;).

BTW - WTF is up with the upcoming WRC rules? I'd think those changes
are even more underhanded and arbitrary than anything done in F1
lately. The FIA certainly seems ready for a major shakeup.

What about the new FIA rules? Two tires all weekend, reduced displacement,
aero package changes. Pretty drastic eh? Are they doing this to increase
competition, reduce costs, safety or maybe all of the above?

They're not going the whole hog for next year AND the measures which are
being taken will only really benifit the big teams.

Ferrari/Williams/McLaren stand to save money to the tune of Minardi or
Jordan's annual budget, but the lesser teams will, in comparison, save less
and see their ability to gain competitiveness reduced even further.

Also there is no doubt the major players will find other motorsports willing
to create loopholes for them to test F1 technology there and thus gain as
much tracktime as they want.

That said, F1 teams are spending rediculous amounts of money on stuff that
doesn't improve the racing from a spectator point of view and which cannot
be adapted for road car use, thus bypassing F1's historical reason for being
(the current one being marketing and "image"). Something has got to be done
before the balloon deflates totally and this is an attempt at doing so.

I was talking about the way they just delivered them to the teams in a
letter at one of the rounds. They also said (although this may have
changed, correct me if I'm wrong) that all teams had to go to
transverse-mounted inline 4cyl - which screws Subaru for no good
reason I can think of.

A better question might be...of those Enzos that DO see the public
roads, how many will end up in the ditch? :)

I thought they were trying to make it like 1968 where the drivers were the
ones that won races and not technology. In those days they used one set of
tires for more than one race. Then again, what do I know?

Maybe we can then be able to get a licensed Grand Prix racing game back onto
the PC! Granting Sony sole rights to the games was a joke! They've had the
exclusive Formula One license for 1 or 2 seasons now and how many sims have
you seen?

What's the point? We've had Crammond's GP series and the ISI series up
to this year. With the exception of the qualifying rules, you pretty much
already HAVE a modern F1 sim. I'm not missing it any and I watch F1 every
Sunday it's on, often at 4:30 am due to my West Coast location.
