BMW 328Ci Year 2000 and H7 bulbs

All,

I have a BMW 328Ci Year 2000 Right Hand Drive and recently had to
change the headlight H7 12v 55w bulbs. Without noticing I fitted the
bulbs and while driving people would stop me say I had my beam switched
on and I was blinding other drivers on the road. The H7 bulbs are
circular with a small notch, if you look face onto the car both the
notches for each headlight are facing 12 o'clock is this correct or
should be they facing 6 o'clock or a different combination all
together?

Don't know about all of that. Too lazy to go outside and see what you are
talking about exactly. I have the same model. Replaced the bulbs with the
exact same ones you did. Had the same "blinding other people" problem. I
just adjusted the angle of my lights by pulling up and facing the side of a
flat building, and evened them up to what I thought was the proper angle.
They look fine at night as I drive, and haven't had any complaints since.

The lamp assemblies (lenses) are set in place at two points, one vertical
and one horizontal, and they adjust in two places, again one horizontal and
one vertical. It sounds to me like you disturbed the set points. The
adjustable points are spring loaded, and you may be able to simply bump the
back of the housing gently to reseat the assembly. Obviously, you want to
bump it with your hand so as to not damage the bulbs. You will notice two
allen screws (mine are white plastic) that are used to aim the lights, the
allen wrench in the trunk that operates the sun roof is (I think) the same
size.

You could have put the bulb in the housing crroked too. It should only fit
one way, but I thinnk you can get it in wrong, then get the holder device to
work partially, and it looks fine from the outside, but oncoming cars would
object.

If you look at the bulb again, and I think you should, be careful NOT to
touch the glass. If you do touch it, the oils in your fingers will destroy
the lamp in short order. If you do get finger prints on the lamp, clean the
lamp with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth.
