6.7L Diesel

Does anyone have one of the new 6.7 L diesels? I have a 2007, 2500 crew cab
with this engine and it has been in and out of the shop 17 times over the
last 12 months and they still cannot get it right. The problem per the
mechanic has been the new emissions standards causing all the problem. Has
anyone else out there had these same nuisance issues?

I have an early build 07.5 6.7L. I've had lots of codes come up, O2
sensors, Turbo etc. They seemed to stop when my dealer tore everything
apart, cleaned the EGR, Heater grid, new turbo and then the latest
flash update.

I believe the later flash updates do seem to help the problems
considerably. However, if your engine is already sooted up and they do
not clean it out then the errors are going to come back.

The latest trend is for a dealer to drill and tap a small hole in the
turbo housing and spraying cleaner in. Reports seem to suggest this
just does not work at all. Repeated problems should result in a new turbo.

Driving the truck in slow city traffic will cause it to soot up bad.
You can help things out by keeping RPM's around 1500 in the city by
keeping it in 4th or 5th gear.

If you live in a state where emissions checks are not performed you may
want to look into the EGR and DPF delete kits. These kits get rid of
the emission systems that are causing the problems.

The latest flash update AY for 07.5's (I believe AQ for 08's) shuts off
the EGR at idle which should greatly reduce soot build up.

i found that if tyou put a after burner on the motor it will elimate a
lot of the problems i work on freight liners and we put afterburners
on the exaust and it solves some of the problema and if you use the
new fuel it also has a lot of problems .
