I went to the junkyard and they replaced the entire door for $150.
Turns out in my case, the entire locking mechanism froze up. I never
really used the sliding door that much but I do open it occasionally
now.
I would have the linkage checked inside of the door. The real pain in
the a$$ is that it is difficult to get the panel off the door while it
is shut!
