Beetles day by
[email protected]
Hi All,
Today is supposed to be the beetle's day and we should go for our
jobs on our beetles or may be just a ride on the end off the day to
celebrate.

Beginner mod questions by
Damjan MozetiÄ
Hi!
I am looking for beginner online tutorials for head porting, polishing
and do-it-yourself stuff without requiring any special expensive tools.
I found this tutorial on cal-look.com
(http://www.cal-look.com/tech/basic.shtml), but the images are blurry
and as a beginner I can't see much of what...

Belt flipped and weird sound by
Chronologic
To start off I will flippantly comment that I need a new nickname:
Dumb Kid. Now that you're in the proper frame of mind, let me
continue.
I'm still hard at work with my '72 Super. I've tackled a few more
things by now. I'm almost there. One thing I had to deal with was I
needed a completely...

Belt size for bugzone oversize crank pulley by
vgonman
Hello,
I have an oversize crank pulley installed in my 71 single cab, and need
to get a belt for it. Problem is, Bugzone (the seller in 2002) does
not appear to exist anymore, and i have no idea what size the belt is.
(The old belt was missplaced).
This pulley was featured in VW Trends August...

Belt throwing problem fixed by
Jan Andersson
Don't know if anyone is interested but I thought I'd share anyway :)
I did already receive stronger Gates belts from Aircooled.net, but just
in case, I fabricated an extra idler pulley for the std V-belt. This is
something you usually only see with the serpentine belt kits. Different
type of...

Bench Bleeding revisited by
John Boy
Your impressions, please. I am installing a new master cylinder into the
'72 Standard Bug.
Isn't just as easy to bleed the MC after installing as it is to do it on
a bench? It seems to me that filling the resevoir and connecting it to
the two MC inlets, then with the brake lines off, pump the...

Bench starting an engine w/o a muffler by
Mel[_3_]
Is it possible or do you need the back pressure?
I have a 'spare' engine I don't want to spend the money for a muffler if I
don't need to.

bent cylinder head fin by
anton[_1_]
Hi,
Just got new heads for my 1600 rebuild. Unfortunatly one of the heads
got bent up a bit in transit and looks like this
http://static.flickr.com/104/281084008_387f9d0a37.jpg
Is it safe to try to unbend it or should I just not bother and get it
exchanged?
What are my chances of getting it...

bent rear torsion tube by
[email protected]
Hello,
I have a buggy project that I'm working on, and there is a slight bend in the
right side rear torsion tube. It's not a big bend -- it's about enough to throw
the right side of the body about an inch higher than the left side.
The previous owner had rewelded part of the torsion housing and...

best fuel delivery? by
Jim Pineau
I have a '78 westy with a stock 2.0 liter + fuel injection. I'm having some
problems with the fuel injection system and need to replace some items. The
more I test things and work with the fuel injection the more I dislike it.
What is the best system for fuel delivery with these engines? Of course...

best make of pistons and heads; 1600cc vs 1641cc by
Matt S
Hi,
I will be replacing the heads and pistons on my bug;
I was wondering what piston make is preferred for a 1600cc standard
engine.
Mahle seems to be popular any comments?
Regardless of what pistons I use, I should balance them - is this
correct? ( Mahle advertises having the convience of the...
