Generator Question; by
A Veteran
why the small wire from the generator body over to the ground on the
regulator? I've got a K.G. running w/o it.
It must be grounded. NO?

rebuilding C.V. joints, put balls back in same place? by
andy everett
I have an 80 Vanagon and hope to go on a long trip. Having bought new CV
joint boots I thought it time to replace them.
?
When rebuilding constant velocity joints should one mark and identify
parts so they all go back where they came from. This would add extra
labor so is it worth it or even...

OT - interior smell by
John[_45_]
This ain't about ACVW but you folks are straight shooters so I'm asking.
Oh, and it ain't a Seinfeld joke, either.
I'm looking at a sporty car. Looks most excellent. Low miles (< 30K).
Seems the owner will let it go cheap enough.
It is all black and was sitting in the sun, locked and closed all...

Wiring Harness by
Help-Slip-Franklin
All,
Well I finally re-started the work on my '73 Super after taking over a year
off! My question is: should I replace the wiring harness while I have
everything taken out of the car? It is everything except a body off
restoration. My wife thinks I should just in case something is wrong...

78mm crank? by

any recommendations on where to get a good 78mm crank. The one at
Aircooled.net is rather expensive and I'm not yet convinced that I need
to spend that much.

Blue Loctite Removal - Help Please! by

Hello!
How do you chemically remove 'Blue Loctite'?
I applied some to the terminals on my VDO dual terminal oil pressure
sender to prevent the two round fastener nuts from coming loose.
I broke my other oil pressure sender when I tried to remove the same
nuts. They had been overtightened.
I was...

VW 1965 engine spluttering after switch off by
YMC[_2_]
Hi,
I've got a classic VW Beetle - vintage 1965. It has a 1641cc engine inside.
It was running smoothly until recently.
The problem is thus:
I go for a 15 minute to 1 hour drive - I stop - and turn off the key. The
engine still keeps on running - spluttering for about 30 seconds after this.

Update from Speedy by
Speedy Jim[_2_]
Thanks all for your sincere concerns.
I don't think you'll find such warmth on many other newsgroups
and it is appreciated.
I had a AAA (aorta) open repair about 7 weeks ago.
I saw the surgeon the other day for a follow-up and
he was very pleased with the progress and rate of recovery.
I've been...
