Squeaky near side... by
Graeme Cosgrove
....definite squeak as we go over the wonderfully corrugated roads we
"invest" our road tax in. Any suggestions? (Re-mortgage the house/buy
an Audi/etc etc?)

New motor.... by
TonyB
Got the 156 today, chuffed to bits with it.
It's been serviced but the service indicator has not been re-set. Does
anyone know how to do that?
Otherwise it's fine, I found £1 and 5p together with a box of Tictacs and
some sweets and girly bits behind the rear seat. Just need to figure out the...

Odd noise by
R C Nesbit
The 156 1.9 JTD had started making a very odd noise.
Started yesterday, under heavy throttle, a sort of
shhhshhsshshs noise, best I can describe it is like the
noise of waves receding on a pebble beach.
Only happens under heavy throttle, neutral or slight
acceleration there is no problem.
So,...

Fuel protests... by
Domestos
I've been reading and hearing moochings about a forth-coming fuel protest in
the UK on the scale of the 2000(ish) refinery blockade that lasted a week
and brought the country to a halt...
Although this is nowt to do with alfa's (well we all fill them up with fuel)
I just want to know everybodys...

Headlight adjustment by
GT[_11_]
OK, I give in - where is it? Need to adjust vertical beam - higher please!
I've tried the black plastic hexagonal adjustor thingy above the wiring on
the central bulb connection and I've tried the white hexagonal plastic
adjuster thingy behind and below the central bulb wiring connection, but...

156 problems filling up the petrol? by
fmt
Being a new owner of a 156 I'm starting to learn all the delights of
owning and driving an Italian car, but one thing that's really bugging
me at the moment is as regards putting petrol in the car.
I've tried at 5 different fuel stations, but everytime the same thing
happens.
Nozzle goes in, fuel...

Someone talk me out of it...... by
SteveH
But I'm being drawn towards a 166.
Just can't argue with the VFM, 99V, 75k miles, FSH, 2lt TSpark, appears
fully loaded - satnav, heated seats, etc..... (might be standard, I
suppose) £2295ono from a dealer, ffs!
I can't see how I could go wrong.

156 on the blink by
Malcolm Osborne
156 2.0TS - driving along, revs go up briefly, then engine dies. Turning
ignition key causes starter motor to go `whirr', but no effect on engine.
Doesn't sound like cambelt - that would be more dramatic?
Any suggestions on root cause, before car is towed to agent? Was due to go
there in near...

Are the Alfa 156 any good? by
Laurence
Hello all,
I know this is possibly the wrong place to ask, but I am considering
getting an 01/02 Alfa 156 2.4 JTD. But am hearing mixed reports about
the reliability of the car and how well it is put together. Now the
question is are these concerns justified?
Thanks for any help.

Looking to buy a 156 by
BigAl
Hi All
With a budget of up to £6,000UKP what would the group consider my best buy?
I'm leaning towards a 2000-2001 Velococe and I'd like a 1.8 but I'm not
seeing many available, unless I want to travel a bloody long way.
I'm going to take a look at a 1.6 2001 (Y) with 56Kon the clock,...

MOT Time! by
R C Nesbit
Having bought the 156 with 10 months MOT on it, I
mis-remembered that the MOT ran out on 5th Nov!
Any road, it went in today, and failed!
Previous MOT had an Advisory that there was a leak in the
flexible exhaust hose.
This time it failed on the same thing! :^(
On the plus side, it is now much...

Is it just me... by
Graeme Cosgrove
....bright sunny morning, tooling down the dual carriageway at a
respectable 70 mph. Very few cars on the road apart form a eurobox in
the inside lane (Pugeot/Citroen/Rover???) and a gold BMW 316 i
convertible in the outside lane overtaking said eurobox UNTIL he sees a
156 bearing down on him,...

156 wiper motor. by
Simon Mason
First day of a 2500 mile driving trip around Eastern Europe the wiper motor
burned out. Oddly enough a few days later, I drove past the ALFA dealer in
Wroclaw and called in. Two hours later I was told they couldn't replace it
is it was a RHD and the LHD motors they had won't work. On the last...

Ok I'm bordering on trolling here but after the response to my rear spoiler
comment!
Except in the dark, what does the group think about the use of the front fog
lights?

Q4 engine in GTV6? by
Mario Orsolic
Hello all !
I have 2 GTVs, 1 is GTV6 2.5 (in very bad condition), and other is GTV2.0,
in decent condition. My plan is to use 2.0 chasis and put in an 3.0 24V
engine from 164Q4, which I could get relatively cheap (complete car).
So my questions would be:
Am i facing only "usuall" 24V conversion...

Ouch! That hurt.... by
SteveH
Just paid the bill for the 'big' cambelt service and MOT on the 156.
Anyone care to guess on the size of the bill?
(Cambelt, 60k service (minus plugs, they were done last time) and MOT)
'Prace bets now!'
