Re-manufactured Gas Heater for Beetle on eBay by
griff
Wow. In order to preserve the family car, my dad bought a rusty 69
beetle with one of those in it for us boys to bash about in.
He paid $300 for the whole car including the Eberspächer.
It had two settings: freezing and nuclear heat.

progressive weber, running like crap by
Scott
I have a stock 1600 motor with a progressive weber (32/36 DFEV) on it.
It's having significant acceleration issue. Any time I accelerate the
engine nearly stalls. I've tried rapid accelerations from 1000 RPM to
4000 RPM in 500 RPM increments and experienced the problem, although
it's most...

More symptoms in the electrics by

Hello!

Standard Beetle -73, 1300, 12V generator. The generator light has for
some time had a tendency to glow lightly when brake pedal id depressed
and the glow alters with the turn signal light in the speedo when the
turn signal is on. I have thought that this is a slight starting...

do 135x15 tires need tubes? by
VFW
I've always put tubes in them, but just yesterday my tire shop assured
me that since they are labeled "Tube-less" they don't need 'em.
Your take. We are using the eight spoke "empi" alloy wheels. and they
are going on the front of my Ghia.
Today I watched the odometer turn to 80,000 , I think...

the Purity and der Fatherland? by

I quite often get criticized because my KG is not original. BTW the work
was done by the previous owner. not a snob.
Then I was in a repair shop and the owner told an Anti-Semitic "joke'
(it wasn't funny) and I did not laugh.
the next time I stopped by to chat, He told me to get "That piece of...

Overheating Caused by Peashooter Shoved Too Far In? by
Jim Ed
If the left peashooter tail pipe is installed too far in next to the
heat riser pipe inside the stock muffler, will it cause the Type I
engine to run hot?
Similarly, if it is installed too far from the heat riser pipe in the
stock muffler, would it cause the engine to run cold in Winter?
Any...

just letting you all know I have moved and arrived in ¤%#( Virginia
reasonably safe and sound. If you have a monitor on your computer that
can display things smaller than a wart on a gnat's ass, then you can
look up Linden, Virginia, zip code 22642 on your map.
Deep, deep in the woods. No...

Window Sash by
\Harry Smith\
Hello all,
Just a quick question for you knowledgable folk. I ordered new window
seals for my 1974 Beetle. I did one door and everything went fine,
except I must not have put the window back glass into the sash (I
believe that is the word for the metal channel that holds it)
correctly because the...

stuck in first -- what do you think? by
griff
Downshifting on a hill yesterday my bug stalled. Clutch in, she
started up no problem but its now stuck in first. Limped home at 8mph.
Did my due diligence in the Bentley manual as well as the other six
books I have. No joy.
The shifter moves into every position *except* first. I get...

fuses a go, go. by
A VFW[_2_]
the rear lights went out and rotating the fuses brought 'em back.
the Q. is after 50 yrs. do I need a new block or are some of the fuses
bad, esp. the ones that look like they're made out of aluminum. are they
reacting with the brass holders? Type one, and the cover seems to have
disappeared....

DIY anti theft advice by
Bluedc[_2_]
I am trying to work out the best way to easily immobilise my type 2. I
would like to have a hidden switch inside the van probably at the back
somewhere that immobilises the ignition and turns on an flashing LED
on the dash. I think its best if it is still possible to turn the
engine over with the...

Where Can i get A group 42 Battery for a 1973 Beetle? by

Where Can I get A group 42 Battery for a 1973 Beetle?
I was just going to measure the dimensions of mine and get one the
same size with the ridge at the bottom for the clamp and use rubber
cable end protectors and a rubber mat on top if I could not find a
group 42 battery.
Does anyone have a...

Probably more of a resto subject this but may be of interest. I,ve been
plagued by a water leak in my Type 3 for years, never been able to trace it.
UNTIL TODAY!. Whenever it rains even moderately it gathers about 1 inch of
water in space under back seat ie on opposite side to battery. Tried...

$100 for a front end alignment? by
VFW
my wife took her Ghia to a tire shop and they had some difficulties.
two hours later, She just wasn't happy with how it went.
'69 with discs up front, ball-joints shouldn't be that hard to adjust.
Did they take advantage of a lady?

default jetting for weber progressive 32/36 DFEV by

I've had a progressive carb laying around that I'm swapping back over
to a standard 1600 engine. I'm pretty sure I rejetted it some number
of years ago.... Can anyone provide me with the standard jetting that
this carb should have? It's the popular 32/36 DFEV weber progressive
that was sold in a...
