anti Touareg sentiment by
aokvw
What a firestorm of criticism my innocent request for T-Reg owner input
created!! Haven't any other longterm, satisfied, VW owners purchased one of
these vehicles?? I feel like I am out here all alone- and enjoying the hell
out of it!

EGR VALVE! by
the_lower_class_brat
Okay so I found that supposively the "egr" wire has a screw shoved in
it, and at the dist cap where theres usually a thing there (checked my
freinds mk2 out) is missing, would this cause the engine to not run
properly, also there is a small hole drilled in the air box near the
gas dis, someones...

warranty/VW Customer Care by
Craig Faison
Hi all,
Our '02 Jetta Wagon has had a clutch failure - specifically, the clutch
won't disengage completely. My first guess was clutch master/slave
cylinder, but my dealer says they check out fine and that there are no
leaks. They say that it's a mechanical failure in the clutch mechanism
(throwout...

Starter solenoid current? by
Bernd Felsche[_2_]
Something I don't know ... and can't seem to find out all that
easily.
I'm trying to figure out the current draw by the starter solenoid,
(not the starter motor) at terminal 50.
It's powered through the ignition switch in the Golf GTI but the 4mm
wiring has me baffled. That's too much current to...

First MKV Jetta sighting by
Steven Grauman
I saw an MKV Jetta on the road for thew first time two days ago, a 2.5
that appeared to have a nice level of equipment, although I was on the
highway and could not get a very good look. I read several preliminary
magazine reviews that seemed top complain endlessly about how "slow"
the 2.5 model is,...

VW City Golf or Toyota Matrix? by
WT
I have been driving a 1986 VW GTI for the past 10 years, and since she's
starting to show her 20 years of age, I may soon be looking for a
replacement. My VW driving and owning experiences have been good, although
certainly not flawless. Here in Canada, VW are offering the 2007 City Golf
for...

I'll NEVER buy another VW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by
Rolf Gustafsen
Once was enough for me with this POS Jetta GLS 2003 I made the mistake of
purchasing.
So far I have had:
1. Windows that fell down due to plastic clips breaking.
2. A center console that broke twice (the gear strips)
3. The cup holders breaking twice. Who puts a cup holder where it can drip

Damaged SOMETHING with backfiring ... by
Fred Mann
Well, I finally got my 83 GTI up and running (it needed a new hall sender).
But it seems that the numerous backfires have taken their toll. I actually
noticed this new problem just after one of the last backfires so I'm pretty
certain it was the cause.
The car now makes a pretty loud clanging noise...

1998-2000 passat lower control arm recall by
Frank
We got a recall letter from VWoA about 1998-2000 Passats, wear on the
front suspension lower control arms, check and possibly replace them.
Says they can be worn even if rubber boots are not damaged, then if
rubber boots are damaged, blah, blah,.... Anyone have any experience
with that?...

Why VW's get bad gas mileage? by
Jon R. Patrick
First, I'm a fan of VW, so I'm not just here attacking them. I had an
87 Fox I used my last 2 years of college, and it's one of those cars I'm
sorry I ever got rid of.
I MAY be in the market to replace my current ride (a focus), and the new
Rabbit has caught my eye... reminding me of the days...

Went to the dealer today for the special early launch of the new Jetta.
Found out some really good things about it:
Electrical system - made by the same company that makes the systems for
Toyota
There is a tunnel and a cutout already in this car - 4Motion is coming in ~2
years
The 5-cylinder...

First day in 8 years with no VW. by
rat
Sort of down. Had to buy a new car but could not even get close to
swinging enough $$$ for a new Golf. Had an A3 Gold for 8 years,
nearly 150k miles. But it was old and after putting 2 grand in
repairs, another 1.5 grand showed up. I was tired of putting money
into a car with no end in sight. ...

VW Golf Door locks keep freezing, best lubricant? by
Greg
A friend is having a lot of trouble with her door locks freezing on her
'96 VW Golf. What is the best lubricant to use on these locks? I've
heard good and bad things about silicone and graphite. Somebody also
recommended lithium grease. I've been warned from using regular oils
and grease...

Your dealer will do a oil consumption test first before any warranty

Serious Bentley Manual Problems by
Kent
A while back, someone started a thread asking which was the preferred
Bentley Manual, electronic or print version. The consensus seemed to be that
the electronic version was not worth the premium price. Well, I should have
taken the group's advice.
I received my CD for the Bentley GTI, Golf, Jetta...
