Dennis Wik
Cleaning my shop today I found an old distributor which has been on the
back of a shelf for 10+ years that I took off an old engine. Anyway
before I put it into the junk file, I checked the number which is 0 231
137 009. It is a vacuum advance 009. I did not know VW ever had a 009

Rear Main Seal by
Kevin
Hi all
I have a 1600dp, with about 3000miles on the clock and is about 10 months
old. It doesn't drip a drop, well at least not in my carport. I do however
have a mean clutch shudder, it's not the Bowden tube, I have replaced it and
set the correct "dip".
I suspect the clutch or pressure plate,...

Battery durability/generator question by
Braukuche
Hey all,
My generator crapped out on the way back from work today. I drove about 15
minutes in daylight with it down. I need to drive a total of two hours tomorrow
(to and fro work) with no headlights on or windshield wipers. Do you think the
battery will hold out long enough for me to make it?
As...

Ball joints by
JS
Anybody know how to get them off? I've got a 66 in need of new tie rod ends
and ball joints. Are there any Bug specific presses I should look into? Or
some kind of homemade device?
TIA,
John

I have a tow bar for a standard VW. It has been modified to pull a
Karmann Ghia (it was made longer to avoid hitting the headlights
during a turn). Includes hitch lock and chains. It probably cannot
be shipped very easily so I would prefer if someone could pick it up.

battery with more than 75 min RC by
Marco
Hi,
does anyone know if there are any group size 42 batteries, the ones
you need for a bug, that have more than 75 min reserve capacity? 75
min or 80 is all I can find. I am more used to 105 min and would like
to install one that has a high reserve capacity.

carb misting by
914
I have dual weber 40IDFs that are misting fuel up thru the top of the
carbs. It is coming out the jet or nozzle in the center of the throut
and splashing up. I have my fuel pres reg set to 2lbs so I don't think
pressure is a problem.

Caie
Hello chaps and chapesses,
A couple of questions which you experienced owners might be able to
help me with.
1. When my van hasn't had any use for over a month it is quite common
that there isn't enough juice in the battery to turn the starter long
enough for the engine to engage. The three...
