Where Can I Get a 80-85C Bellows Type Thermostat? by
Jim Ed
Where can I get a 80-85C bellows type thermostat?
My Type I engine in my 1973 beetle runs cold even with a stock
thermostat.
This is mostly due to me taking short trips.
In moderate and cold weather I want to use a stock F.I. Thermostat.
Thanks In Advance!

quick fix for T-2 window regulator by
VFW
ever have the handle turn and no window action. I've found out why.
Just inboard of the handle is a "clutch" around the shaft. it wears out.
seems the driver's side always goes first.
Instead of the nasty job of replacing the whole regulator, how about
just defeating the worn "clutch" with an...

You got a medal if you got 100,000 kilometers w/o a major rebuild.
the cam ran in the case/ no bearings!
No hardened valve seats. and that 3rd cylinder. hot!
and the "heater" those flaps guaranteed you got to breathe some dirty
air pumped through those asbestos laced tubes.

Horn wiring? by
VFW
I know if 1950 the bug grounded the horn thru a brush like thingy on the
steering column and then the "tube" on the steering column was mounted
in rubber and later on they went to another system.
What I can't figure out is how the 1971 van horn works. Mine started
blowing whenever the key was...

72' super - replace antenna by
Nellis
Would anyone have any suggestions for me on how to replace the antenna
on my 72' super?
The problem I am having is getting the antenna wire back through the
tiny holes. I did pull
the old wire out and pulled a string with it, but the angle is so sharp
I am unable to thread the
new wire back...

Aluminum fuel line fitting by
John Stafford[_3_]
I use 3/8" ductile aluminum fuel line in my kit car. (I have it enclosed
in a larger conventional fuel line for vibration protection.)
The connection to the fuel line that feeds the carbs is just a slip-on
from the aluminum line to the fuel line - fastened with a couple hose
clamps.
I think I...

The Sounds of Fweem by
Bill Berckman
Have not had a Beetle for a while, but pulled up next to one at a
stoplight the other day. Could tell it was a 73 with the shiny new
peashooter exhaust, large tailights and non shock absorbing bumpers.
Don't know why but I rolled down the window and waited from him to
pull away first, just to hear...

Ran only sporadically during our tough NJ Winter and now have bad
