Hi,
I would like a list of good air-cooled VW shops.

What highback seats will fit a 1970 Australian Bug by
Jessdownunder
Hello all
I have a 1970 Australian Bug and wanted to put some VW seats in it so
that I can order the original style upholstery. I do not want the low
back seats that were originally in my car though. Does anybody know if
any of the high back seat models will slide onto the same tracks?
Thanks...

following cooling tin parts on my stock 1600 DP (carb). I'm a little
confused, as various outlets list a "complete stock cooling tin kit"
which don't seem to include these parts.

Shimmy in front/steering wheel @ ~40MPM or after hitting a bump by
areyouwireless
Folks,
On my long drive I took to consume some fuel (see other posting
today), I notice that the front /steering wheel start to shimmy between
40 & 45 MPH. After I reach 50 things settle down again. I don't believe
it is a balance issue with the tires (had them just replaced). Since
this is my...

Electrical Short in 1979 Type I Cabrio by
datatechnic
Jim, thank you for your very good advice. You saved me from a lot of heartache.
I took out all the bulbs in the #2 fuse circuit, and hooked up the multi-tester to the fuse terminals. When I clicked the headlight switch, the meter was reading voltage, so there was definitely a short somewhere.
As...

rattle in gear stick by
bug '59
Hi Ramva,
I'm having a strange rattle in my gear stick when accelerating.
When i put my hand on it the ratlle disapears but the stick still shivers.
Could this be something silly like lack of grease in the gear rod connected
to the gear stick or is it more dramatic..? :(
Btw, it is a '73 SB manual...

Electrical Short in 1979 Type I Cabrio by

Fuse #2 blows when the headlights switch is clicked to the 1st detente. There is no visible damage to the wires coming out of the instrument panel into the front side markers or rear parking lights.
My next step is to take the instrument panel apart and use a multi-tester to check out the...

Bug keeps dying by
Houdsie
Hi all-
I'm still having issues with my '73 Super. The car died on me last 2
weeks ago. Last weekend, I cleaned the dist. cap and she turned over.
I changed out the rotor, cap and points. Today, I checked the dwell,
which was 25 degrees exact. The idle was set to 800 RPMS (which seems
to be...
