'74 Swing Axel Wheel Bearings by
Juper Wort
Just about to do wheel bearings on the beetle and need to clarify one point.
Haynes says that the large O ring goes over the bearing, when seated. Rob &
Dave suggest large O ring goes into cover plate. I would guess that the end
result is the same, but which if any, is likely to be more successful...

Well it's time to get serious about fixing up our 79 vert, it is good shape
now but I want to get it better. I ordered a couple of new bumpers a couple
of years ago because the ones on the bug were starting to rust. Our local
shop said that he could get some from California that were triple plated...

Accelerator cable/dies for keys? by

Hey, all -- I've got a '79 Superbeetle, and my accelerator cable
snapped. Should I get just the cable, or are there other things I
should be considering while I'm at it? Also, where *does* one get dies
for keys? (Oh: and my Schilton's is at home; anyone know where I can
look up what part number...

Now it's brakes by

NOW after replacing the fragged roller brearings up front, a couple kids ran
into traffic at an interesection. It was a real showstopper for all the cars
as they all slammed on their brakes. I had to lock 'em up. The kids are
okay.
But now my front brakes are dragging. Goshdarn, I tell ya...

Hi Guys,
A real easy one for someone - I'm in need of a set of Valve Cover
gaskets for my 1980 Air-cooled vanagon (2000cc). One of the local
shops here in town has the gaskets in stock for older beatles (he
admitted my van was a bit too old school for him as he specializes in
water cooled VWs so...

I had a reply composed and it went Pooof!
A 100 Ohm 2 watt Pot sounds good.
BUT.....the voltage stabilizer amy not be working/
Check that it is sending a series of pulses to the
gauge with all wires connected.

57 oval and 63 bug by

I just purchased the above mentioned vehicles, the 57 needs a fair bit
of work but its do-able.
Anyway, the point of this post is that these are my first bugs and my
first restore jobs.
If someone can give me any pointers on rust, painting and converting
6volt to 12, twould be nice.

The problem is with a 1982 aircooled westy (Vanagon).
At first, it went so rich that it would lose all power.
Once in the workshop, I had a look on the fuel pressure...
