Shaggie's new ride??? by Neil
It's on eBay and it's in NC. Street legal even. Maybe it's the one that can bring him "back into the fold" http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7957967724 Neil

Heater boxes loose casing by Fred
Both my heater boxes have what I am calling "loose outer casings". The sheetmetal on the outside of the boxes is loose and moving around. The ends that connect to the muffler and the engine are solid and they do not appear to be rusted. I can visualize the inside, with the fins around the pipes...

Best path for resto on a budget? by Kevin Holzer
Hey all, I'm working on restoring my 71 Ghia and need a bit of direction. There is minor rust (bubbling around the antenna, drivers side wheel well, battery, some around the horn -- poor front end bodywork like every other ghia out there; not much if any rust through). There are a couple of dents...

Possible trade... by WJ
What I have: (1) Red 90 Mazda Miata base model, 162K miles, bone stock except for an Alpine cassette deck and electric antenna. Factory hard top included. This car is in great shape for it's age. The paint is original, so it's a bit faded. It does need a new soft top, and the headrest speakers...

On The Disagreeable Subject of Rust Bubbles by Mike Rocket J. Squirrel Elliott
The Wonderbus is many things. It is well-running and fun to drive. It elicits waves from other bay window drivers. It provides servicing opportunities that even I can enjoy with my meager skills. One thing is is not, however, is painted well. From a distance it looks great: white over sky blue. But...

Not Running Right by [email protected]
I finally got my buggy running and driving but something isn't right. I can't get it out of second gear without it cutting out. Can't decide if it's timing or carb. It seems like it's not getting enough gas, yet, I know the timing is not quite right either. If I have the distributor (009) up where...

I bought a 74 bug last week. All was working well the last time I drove it. I parked it for 3 days and when I went to drive it again the wipers no longer work. I checked the fuses and all looks good there. Any suggestions for me to try while I wait for some repair books I ordered to arrive?? ...

need to build heavy duty offroad ball joint front end by JohnF
I have a Thing and it weighs about 300 lbs more than a stock Beetle and I usually have 4+ people in it. I constantly mash up the front suspension off-road and want to build something a little tougher. It would be nice to be able to set up some compression limiters because I break off the lower...

Comments on shimming under rocker arms by Matt S
Hi, I'm back! I replaced the pistons and head on my beetlemex engine. Replaced with: Mahle pistons ( stock) and stock (VW heads which turned out to be made in Brazil - felt cheap and the inlets were very rough - almost gouged) With either my stock or EMPi steel pushrods, I have about 2 mm of...

Compression Ratio and 44 IDF's by Matthewd
Folks, All right. I have been having a slightly rich problem with my 2016cc. My exhaust pipe is getting quite blackened by carbon. I don't exactly smell gas, but suspect that I am running rich by the residue on my pipes and plugs (Bosch W8 ac). I am running a 78mm crank/90.5 P/C's, and FK7 cam...
