Escort Wheels fit A2? by
Keith Park
Hi all,
I have a 97 Ford Escort wagon coming my way, I believe it has 14" wheels.
Will they fit my 13" wheeled 87 Golf GL? I know the GTI's had 14" teardrop
wheels but will the ford wheels fit? the offset work? Will my speedo be
off?
Thanks
Keith

Dead golf - immobiliser? by
Pep
Weird problem just killed my golf. I have a 1.8GL Automatic Golf on a
"P" plate. It has been running okay with no problems yet all of a
sudden it will not attempt to start.
The symptoms are that when I turn the key in the ignition to the first
position, the dashboard lights up with the usual oil,...

No Brake Lights- Problem Solved by
Ears
I replaced the brake light switch; I guess it's a common problem. The
part was about ten bucks and it only took a minute to replace once I
figured out how to do it.
Does anyone know the location of the reverse light switch? That's
next...

Seat Covers for 86 Cabriolet by
Ken M
The leather front seats on my '86 Cabriolet (Wolfsburg) are shot. The
guy who replaced the top a few years back said he could custom make
new covers for about $1K apiece. Too pricey for me.
Where can I get decent covers for the seats that won't break the bank?

Intermittent Spark in 1979 Rabbit by
Fred Mann
Hello all,
I have a 79 Rabbit that suddenly developed an intermittent spark problem a
few days ago.
I am currently stranded in a nearby parking lot, but I've been able to do a
fair amount of testing. After smelling gas, I figured I wasn't getting
spark, so I hooked up a timing gun to the wires and...

1987 VW Vanagon (Camper), 2.1L Automatic by
[email protected]
We have the intermittent starter problem with this Vanagon that we
have been told is common to the species. When hot, either after a long
hill-climb or on a very hot day, the starter will flat-out not
function, not even a *CLICK* until the vehicle cools, usually some
time between 15 minutes and an...

How to refill A/C on '01 Jetta? by
[email protected]
Hi,
My 2001 model year Jetta has had poor AC for a while now. I assumed
it's simply low on the refrigerant, and bought one of the refill kits
with gauge.
My problem is finding the low-pressure port on the AC system.
The directions on the can, and in my Hayes manual, both say to locate
the...

RUSTY shock tower repair by
I'm a Movie[_2_]
Has anyone ever had sucess welding in a patch panel that included a
shock tower on an inner fender of a rabbit?
Would it be better to weld in a patch for just the rusted part of the
original OR would it be more structurally sound to cut out a donor
shock tower and weld the entire tower into...

89 Cabriolet - What's this plug? by
Geoff Glave
Hi There,
My wife has an '89 VW Cabriolet with a manual transmission. Driving it home
today, it became hard to find first gear, and you could detect a burning
smell. Coolant and oil temp gauges read as normal.
When I got home I noted what appeared to be smoke from hot oil venting out a
green...

LEAKING GAS TANK SCIROCCO & CABRIOLET by
Willie78
I've met quite a few people who still have this problem. You may not
expect this response, but BRING IT TO THE DEALER. Many scirocco's and
cab's may suffer from this problem 1987-93, but it is still a RECALL.
Bought my $900 Scirocco 16v with more than 200K on the non-working
ODO, had leaking gas...
