Clutch Problems on 91 Golf GTI by
Sandy
Hi,
My Clutch recently gave up the ghost with a clunk when i pushed the
pedal down. The pedal depressed straight to the floor and failed to
return. I assumed the cable had snapped but on closer inspection the
cable is intact. Does anyone know of any tests that may tell me what
has gone wrong? ...

Ron
'95 Passat VR6 5 speed.
Transmission mount is bad, the engine is very easy to rock on the
diagonal from the left rear towards the right front.
It's pretty stiff on the other diagonal, and stiff trying to load the
front mount. Car has 145,000 miles.
This car has been a bit expensive as of late,...

VW Golf GTi M reg Clunks into 1st gear. by
VW Internet
Hi,
I have a Golf GTi Mreg Uk number plate, its the 2.0 8 valve.
Does anybody, know, what would cause the 1st gear, to almost jump
into gear?
The other gears are fine.
The clutch was replaced 5 months ago.
It seems to randomly happen,or it seems like its random.
Would it be the gearbox, at all ?

What do you think about 'Citi' cars (re) introduced to the US Market? by
TBerk
As in Lupo/Polo sized VWs or the Yaris by Toyota etc.
Not everybody needs a big F150 or SUV, and some are not just going to
get a hybrid car, nor deal with (bio)diesel as an alternative.
However, there seems to be a market for fuel economy provided by a
smaller footprint 'Citi' or Metro-Car, one...

Touchy 97 Jetta GL Trunk Lock... by
Mister.Lull
My 1997 Jetta GL (automatic) has a touchy trunk lock.
Most likely you're familiar with the way this lock works, but I'll
recap for those of you who might need a refresher course.
If the lock itself is aligned vertically then a key should be required
to open the trunk (insert key, turn right ,...

I've got an 84 Rabbit that I purchased last December. It

87 16V - Blown Head Gasket by
Newsgroup (Wayne Faas)
Posted previously as 87 16V running rough.
After finally running a compression, suspected that the head gasket was
blown between 3 & 4 as the pressure was only 55 psi on both. This was
proven true after removing the head.
Any words of wisdom on replacing the head gasket? It was replaced...

Brake grinding - 99 Jetts A3 by
Jack
The rear brake shoes grind during wet weather.
Sounds like gravel in the drums.
It clears up if I activate the brakes for 15 - 20 seconds, but recurs
if it sits for an hour or so. No evidence of grinding in dry conditions.
The dealer says it is a common problem, because of the shoe...

98 passat climatronic air-con question. by
Sam Jones
Hi,
When I start the car the display of the climatronic air-con flashes for
a few seconds, which I believe indicates a fault with the air con. The
garage that I go to have told me that in this case it is a pressure
sensor and a flap motor that need replacing. They also said that whilst
the parts...
