new battery - about 5yrs by
ps56k[_3_]
Just replaced the battery in our 2001 Grand Cherokee.
So, the orig battery was 2001, then replaced at 2006, now again at 2012.
This would imply a general life of about 5 or 6 years.
Since I was stranded in a Home Depot parking lot,
and had a really hard time jumping the battery
and then keeping...

2001 GC - fan clutch replaced by
ps56k[_3_]
2001 Grand Cherokee - 102k -
Had the oil sensor replaced - now reading more normal..
Could it have just been dirty contacts after last oil change ?
They also noticed the fan blade wobbled on shaft,
and replaced the fan clutch...
Wonder what that is - how it works; must be a mechanical rotation...

Goodyear Authority AT tires by
Frank_v7.0
I've got 41k on my BFG AT KO tires (31 10.50x15) and I'm down to 6/32".
I'll need new tires before the snow flies. Has anyone used the Goodyear
Authority AT tires on a Jeep Wrangler (98-06)? I don't "off road" but I
live a mile off of pavement on a non maintained (no plowing and no
grading)...

high oil pressure by
ps56k[_3_]
Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 6-cyl - 2001 -

and now notice the oil pressure gauge
is reading much higher than normal.
The round graduated guage has - 0 - 40 - 80 -
the needle usually sits at 40,
but is now resting more between 40/80 at "60" or higher...

2006 Wrangler won't start by
Will Honea[_1_]
Daughter called her "resident mechanic" tonight. After getting the whole
story, it turns out that the starter isn't turning. I've put her thru the
drill enough times that she checked the battery (headlights on, they don't
dim when she hit the starter, etc.) It's a manual tranny so I told her...

MIL light on by
JKConey
2012 Jeep Liberty with 1000 miles on it. Here's the scenario. We got
our trailer hitch attached yesterday, so the rear was cranked up and
down a few inches, a couple times. We also got an electronic brake
controller installed. The red dashboard MIL light stayed on all the way
home, which was a...

New Liberty 10 mpg? by
JKConey
New Liberty here. I know it's early. 600 miles, but I'm getting a solid
10 MPG in city driving. I'm going out of my way to take it slow and
easy, and getting the ECO On display to come on. Is this as good as it
gets, or will it improve? Sticker said 16-22.

new(ish) Wranglers? by
Lee Ayrton
I'm starting to look for a used Jeep and I'm finding the four-door
Wranglers visually attractive. Does anyone here have an opinion or
experience with them?
Runner-up might be a Cherokee circa 2002 or so. Half the price of a four-
year-old 4-door Wrangler.
2nd runner-up would be an 06-ish...

Did something go *sprong* and I just missed it? by
Lee Ayrton[_2_]
1997 XJ 4 door, power windows, power door locks.
Today I vivisected the passenger front door - the second time in about 4
years - to free up the door catch. It gets rusty and refuses to open.
Take it out, clean it up, and I'm good for another few years. All good.
Except.
When I went to...

ECO On and Liberty MPG question? by

Anyone know the difference between ECO and ECO ON with this
indicator? Only 400 miles and on my first tank of gas, but only about 10
MPG. How long before I see an improvement?

97 XJ Auto Engine Shut off? by

Has anyone heard of an "Auto Engine Shut-off" on a 97 XJ Cherokee? I have
one and so does my friend Tom. I have had all the standard problems that
come with owning an XJ and have been able to fix it without too much
trouble. Tom hasn't had nearly the problem as mine, I think because his has...

Power steering pulley broke hurrah! by
J. Clarke[_2_]
Pulled out of a side street, something went "clunk" and the power
steering on the ZJ died. Pulled over to the side of the road and
investigated and found that the power steering pulley was gone.
Backtracked on foot and found the serpentine belt and a piece of pulley.
I was a couple of miles...
