Quick Parts Question by
Rebecca
Since there isn't a good place to get VW parts within 200 miles of here I've
been ordering off the web. Just wondering if there are good and bad places
to go. I've been using CIP1 because they take paypal, where all my money is
and SoCal Auto Parts because I can't find lower priced parts. Where...

preheater troubles by
David Gravereaux
basically a stock motor with an EMPI 3417 exhaust. preheater tubes are
connected, but does little work keeping the manifold warm. Most likely
from the less backpressure pushes little exhaust gases though now.
Is there such a thing as an electric heater blanket I can wrap the
manifold in or maybe...

Herbie !! by
Susan S.
Today was just too fun !! Although the weather almost didn't cooperate, we
had a fantastic turn out for the arrival of Herbie. Rough guess, about 50
VW's of all types lined up for a huge caravan into Pensacola complete with
police escort. It was a real treat for everyone to see Herbie and...

Anyone have any good information on this? I would like some input on why it
was necessary, what engines it was used on and over what period of time.
Thanks.

009 Distributor by
69' Dune Buggy 1600cc
In the bigger bore and stroke engines such as 2000+, 2100+, etc. what
type of distributor advance is needed(type 1 engines)?
The 009 seems to be the "fix-all" however the original 1600's had so
many variation of the timing curve that it only makes sense that larger
size engines would have their own...

'71 Ghia Tires (5.60-15) -> 165R15 Unavailable ? by
Steve Mc
I haven't bought tires in quite a while, so am surprised that I can't find
any around locally in the tire stores . The 5.60 - 15 is my original spare,
and I'm not even sure the 165R15 86T's are the best size for the car, though
they've been on it since '01.
Any help or suggestions would be...

Turn Signals, Sometimes will not blink. by
Sleepy Joe
Hi!
I have a ‘73 VW Beetle.
I bought an AutoZone battery and installed it on 5-28-02. I think it
is time for a new one. With the headlights on, foot on brake
pedal/stop lights on, and turn signals on, sometimes the turn signals
will not blink. After charging the battery I repeat the same...

stainless steel brake lines by
[email protected][_1_]
I thought someone made stainless brake lines to replace all the metal
lines. Does anyone know a source for them?
I'm putting a sand rail together for a guy and would like to set it up
so he doesn't worry about rust while it sets at his beach house.
Thanks

Hazet Reproduction Tool Kit? by
Tom Nakashima
I was wondering if anyone has knowledge of the Hazet Reproduction Tool Kit.
The repro-D kit price runs from $80.00-$135.00. How are the quality of the
tools compared to the original? The original Hazet tool kit is priced
pretty high, from $500.00- over $1K. What makes these original tool kits...

In the Summer of 2009 we installed an Interstate battery that we got

In warm or above freezing weather it cranks just fine.
When it is below freezing, sometime the starter makes a little grrr

On another vehicle with an Interstate...
