91 Golf exhaust leak & engine power by
mini chifa
I went to get my car inspected a few days ago and it failed because of
an exhaust leak (funny, it's passed the last 3 years without a
problem). it is caused from the junction of two pipes between the cat
and resonator. one fits over the other which allows plenty of exhaust
to simply blow around.
I...

85 to 81 diesel transplant? by
Al Adams
I have a 1981 Rabbit PU from which someone removed the diesel engine and
replaced it with a gas engine. The wiring has been butchered, but the body
is in great shape for northern NE.
I'm considering buying a 1985 Golf diesel parts car in order to replace the
PU's current engine with something...

86 Golf Diesel Coolant warning light- what the normal range of temp. gauge. by
86GolfDiesel
What is the normal coolant temp gauge supposedly to be?
My Golf has a gauge that looks like: (Left to right) white area, then
two dots, temp symbol, then to more dots, then a slash line. My needle
runs right over the temp symbol, which is almost 1/2 way to the
middle.
I blew a hose recently so I...

Maximize Your Golf Potential by
isabel cook
You have certain physical capabilities. If your pro tells you to make
a 90 degree shoulder turn and you can't... what does he tell you next?
I can tell you it's to make some kind of "compensation" in your swing
to make that shoulder turn. The result is less power, more miss-hits
and an even MORE...

where can I buy crimp tool? by
Nate Nagel[_2_]
I'm looking for a crimp tool that will do factory-style crimps on the
little electrical connectors used on European cars, the ones with two
tabs that fold over and crimp over the wire and then two more that fold
over and crimp over the insulation for strain relief. I had a cheap
tool that I'd...

86 Golf Diesel - Heating & Cooling vents by
86GolfDiesel
Can the interior heating, defrost and cooling vents be cleaned beyond
normal reach? Lots of engine dust and very small debris coming out of
vents occasionally. The car had not been run for a year when I bought
it last week. Wondering if I can find the air intake and clean that
out.
Other than...

? GTI: 5W-30 instead of 5W-40 ? by
Lanning
2006 GTI (2.0 turbo)
I found that the VW dealer put in 5w-30 instead of 5w-40 today at my third
oil change. I told him the manual says the oil must be 5w-40, but he was
unconcerned.
The receipt says he used Castrol SLX Professional OE 5W-30. I bought a quart
of the same from that dealer, and the...

Hi,
I've been reading and looking for a receiver type hitch for a '90
Golf (built April 1990 so pre-1990.5) where the hitch installation
doesn't require any new holes drilled in the car. Have checked out the
web sites for Dalan, Hidden Hitch, and DrawTite. All their models for
this car require...

Code scanner by
SheaNC
I am looking to buy a code scanner for my 2000 beetle. I noticed that there
are some that are specifically for VW's. Does anyone know how those differ
from the universal code scanners? Does it matter which one I get? Thanks for
any help.
