Aftermarket gauges for an 87 Fox by
Tom Dobrowolsky
I'd like to install aftermarket guages on my 87 Fox.
Where would be the best place to install a water temp gauge?
Oil: does the stock oil pressure sender send a signal to anything
other than the idiot light? I'd like to just be able to tap that
point for a line to a mechanical gauge (or to a...

Catalytic Failure by
Glenn Morton
My car just passed Drive Clean in Ontario, but not without needing a
new catalytic converter. I was pretty surprised by this since the old
one was only 2 years old. Is it just me, or is that a pretty short
life span?
I had an incident where I was changing the oil and somehow overfilled
it, which...

Door Unlocking Problem by
JB
Hi all,
I have a 2003 GTI VR6. I've noticed lately that my passenger side door will
not unlock via two clicks of the remote key unit. I can unlock it using the
button on the driver's door. I have also tried my spare key (which is never
used), and it will not unlock it either, so that takes...

1991 Jetta CA model is different by
dave
I just saw a California 1991 8V gas model for the first time here in Chicago.
Totally odd stuff on the engine, at least to me:
Different fuel injector wiring, with maybe individual wiring for each injector.
Different throttle body switches and two stop screws for the levers.
Engine check light. I...

Engine & fuel sys. question by
Jerritt
I was planning on switching in a 1.8l into my 84' Jetta(has 1.7l
CIS-Lambda now).
I have seen for sale locally an 87' 1.8l Golf engine. The guy is not
home now so I cannot get the engine code.
My questions a
What fuel system did the 1.8l engine have in the 87' Golf?

Mass Air Sensor by
Dave
FYI,
My MAF sensor was acting up last year on my 99.5 Jetta TDI and once I
replaced it with a new sensor (a Pierburg), it made a heck of a
difference. It would actually get up to speed like it was supposed
to. The only problem is that about 10k miles later, the car is
starting to show signs of...

01 Jetta VR6 Odometer Scrambling? by
Nedeltcho Vladimirov
I have an eye on one 01 Jetta VR6 that have suspiciously low miles. My
question is: Is it possible the odometer to be scrambled? I mean it is
electronic and it can not be rewind, I know, but is there any other ways now
to turn it back? Or may be to stop the reading for an year or so and then
again...

full synthetic VW 505 01 in North America? by
Achim Nolcken Lohse
Has anyone found a source of fully synthetic VW 505 01 engine oil in
North America?
The only brands I've been able to find in Canada are Motul, which is a
"synthetic blend" and outrageously priced at CAD$11/Litre, and
Castrol, which doesn't even show the word "synthetic" anywhere on the
package,...

Drive Clean Test by
Glenn Morton
My 93 Golf is coming up for Drive Clean in the next couple of weeks.
It has 240k, has been well maintained (for the most part), and runs
well. The only thing that it seems to have a problem with is the
first 3-5 minutes of running when it is wet out. It seems to sputter
when I accelerate for...

Winter Tire Recommendations for 2000 Golf GL (195/65/15) by
Susheem
I just moved to Boston from Los Angeles and have no experience with
driving in the snow. What are some recommendations for good winter
tires? I would like a tire that will last a good number of seasons
and has good traction in the snow. I would also like to keep the cost
down to under $100 per...
