Cars play songs on flash drive in alphabetical order by file name. by micky
Windows relevance at the end. Last year I posted about the 3 cars I ended up having in one 2 month rental period, and about the flash drive I had made that had about 800 songs on it from the 50's and early 60's, that I recorded off of 181.FM-oldies, one of several internet radio station from the...

Two simple questions that came up when mounting tires at home by Arlen G. Holder
Two minor questions that came up today when I was showing an inquisitive teen how to mount & balance his own tires for the car he recently got for free from a neighbor. 1. The teen asked me why this slit in the typical air chuck... <https://i.postimg.cc/43JN7rWw/valve02.jpg> 2. The kid asked...

Car radio that will mix sound inputs and play them at the same time? by micky
Is there a car radio that will mix sound inputs and play them at the same time? AFAICT, both the Mazda 2 that I had and the current Honda Jazz/Fit and maybe any other car I've driven lately only allowed one input to the "radio" at a time. So if I wanted to play the music on my Flashdrive, I...

How to keep sound on when backing up. by micky
The 2019 Honda with the touchscreen that I am renting turns off the radio/flashdrive/bluetooth sound whenever I back up. Is t here a way to stop that. If something important is on the radio, I have to park until it is over before I back up or find some place where I can make a U-turn. ...

Rubbing the tire on the road, is it really mathematically simple? by micky
When I was in high school I was taught, or I read, that it's bad to turn the steering wheel when the car is not moving. It's hard on the front tires, wears out the tread, and one should be moving the car at least a little when turning the wheel. Did they say that? Do they still? I've been...

Just mounted & static balanced my 30th tire in about five years - saving over $400 by Arlen G. Holder
UPDATE: Today I mounted & static balanced my 30th tire in about five years, where each time I do this easy job, I learn new tricks to make it even easier. For example, the "drop center" trick that Clare taught me was, by far, the most critical trick of all. And, this time, I learned that it's a...

Wont stay running... by [email protected]
My car ('87 Bonneville) would start, stay on if I keep the gas pedal down, but only briefly, then shut off. All the lights are on, except engine. Tried switching burnt spark plugs, but also didnt work. 74,000 original miles. What else can it be?

spark plug socket wrench won't hold plug enough to remove by Joe[_71_]
It keeps falling out. I don't have a long enough needle nose pliers to get it out is there another handy household contraption I can use to get deep in the hole to grab the plug and remove it or do I need to hit the hardware store?

Unable to Tighten GM Side Mount Battery Terminal by KC[_2_]
The car is a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass with the 3.4L DOHC engine. The negative battery cable terminal will not get very tight when attached to the battery. I can snug it up to where it just begins to get tight, but that is as much as I can get out of it. It feels as though there is not enough depth...

Valet broke my brakes by Tom Del Rosso[_5_]
Tonight when I gave my 97 Mercury to the parking valet the brakes were normal. When I got it back the pedal had to go to the floor to stop. There are 2 systems right? Would it do that if one line broke? --

any cops still using the Crown Victoria ? by [email protected]
There was an article in a motoring magazine last year claiming that 200 Crown Vics were still in service, having not done enough miles to be retired. But occasionally one sees a story on the evening news, the cop car is a Panther. I suppose there will be a big hoo-ha when the very last one goes.
