Looking at a used 01 Jetta TDI. by
Rob
Hello, I'm looking at buying a used 01 Jetta auto that a guy has for sale.
It has 65,000 miles on it and is in nice shape. I plan to test drive it
sometime time next week and was looking for any good or bad things to look
for. He said the timing belt has not been changed yet, so what does this
cost...

Where can good interior door panels be found? by
Papa
I need a set of decent interior door panels. The ones on my 1988 VW Rabbit
Cabriolet Convertible are warped because of exposure to moisture. I've
looked high and low on the internet, and just found a few sources: JBugs,
TMI, and JCWhitney, and TMI does not sell to individuals. Please...

I am still trying to fix this. New clutch, complete, best quality parts,
etc. Clutch works great for a week, then starts to not disengage completely.
Replaced release plate, release bearing, pushrod and self adjusting clutch
cable. Same problem, I don't want to have to pull this transmission a...

2001 Jetta 5th gear ratio by
Kevin L
I'm looking into changing the 5th gear ratio on my 2001 Jetta. The
object is to slow the engine down at highway speeds as I think it revs
way to high at 65-70 mph. What is available? Has anyone done this?
Thanks

Cannot open my trunk by
Papa
During the last week or so I've encountered a lot of little aggravations
with my 1988 VW (Rabbit) Cabriolet Convertible. The latest is my trunk lid.
Apparently the latch release rod has become detached from the lock cylinder,
so using the key does not unlock it - even though the key works and...

'04 PDTDI clutch slipping by
FornoW
First time I looked here for answers, so if this problem has been addressed
before,sorry.
I have an '04 Golf, PD,TDI. 19,500, easy, mostly hiway miles. About two
weeks ago, the clutch started to slip, usually in 3rd, or 4th, running along
steady, then punching it a little to change lanes, or pass...

Fuse for dash lights - 2002 Passat by
paul ockenden
I have a 2002 Passat (UK spec). For the second time now I've lost my
interior illumination. Not the main lights - they still work - what's
missing is
the background illumination on the speedo, the aircon, the little red lights
on the air vents, on the door locks, etc. etc.
Last time this happened...

Touran in the US, still a no? by
googlelogue
So, with more and more 7-passenger cars (non-SUV) making its way to US
roads, will VW ever bring the Touran? Freestyle, Pacifica, etc.
A small 7-passenger cars just makes sense for people like us who have
kids, live in an urban area, and don't want to get an SUV or a van.

I am having a no start problem with my 97 VW Jetta. I just replaced the
distributor and was timing the car, when I turned the distributor too
far and stalled it. I then moved the distributor back to its original
position and tried to start the car again. Engine would turn but no

93 Fox overheating by
foxstreetblues
I diagnosed my overheat problem, hot upper hose cold lower hose, as a stuck
thermostat. I pulled the coolant pump and replaced the thermostat. After
roadtest: radiator heated up, lower hose heated up, fan came on, fan shut
off, no overheating. My wife drove to work (12mi) no overheating. On...

88 Scirocco Too Loud ???? by
LaM
Tried to get my Roc registered but was told that it was too loud. It has an
aftermarket exhaust system with no rust on(present when I bought the car).
I don't want to remove it or cut it just to get a sticker. Any ideas on
what I could do to make it pass?

Single DIN monsoon clarification by
YYZedd
<'01 GTI>
I have been reading a lot lately looking for solutions to the ipod in the
car question. One thing that I am unclear of is this: Does the single DIN
monsoon head unit have an AUX in (RCA) or just the input from the CD changer
in the trunk? I am pretty sure its the latter, just want...

A1 Cabriolet Instrument Cluster Interchangeability by
Papa
I have seen 2 different versions of the speedometer/tachometer instrument
clusters on the liquid-cooled rabbits and cabriolets of the late 80s, early
90s. One of them has the coolant temperature gauge in the middle of the
cluster, at the top of the cluster between the tach and speedo. The...
