Why is my GTI doing this to me? by
Kent
This problem with my GTI is driving me CRAZY!!! I'll be driving along on the
highway, and the engine will suddenly and completely lose power. There is
absolutely no response from the accelerator. When I coast to a stop at the
side of the highway, the car returns to idle as if nothing happened....

92 Golf heater core (A/C) leak by
Rob Wilson
I suspect I have a coolant leak in the heater core of my 92 Golf GL
(California). I *know* I have a coolant leak, when I rub my fingers on
the carpet near the floor vent they come out smelling like coolant and
my windshield is constantly fogged, which are all symptoms of a heater
core leak. I...

Safety ratings of classic VWs... by
[email protected]
Microbus drivers seem to run the risk of losing their knees in a
front-on collision...is this true, how severe is it usually, and are
there ways to avoid such problems to a point (such as reinforcing the
car structure between the driver and the front of the car)? I'm looking
into getting a Microbus...

How important is this damage??? by
John
My 17 year old son drove my 2000 Golf into a snowbank and tore off somesort
of black fiber/plastic cover that hooks into bottom of the front bumper.
Is it clear what I am referring to.
I have got it stuck back in pretty good, but I am not fooling myself that it
is a permanent fix. How important...

questions about brake repairs by
John
I don't know much about cars and have taken mine to the dealer for service
for 30 years. Sadly, the local VW dealer is so lousy I have to do
otherwise. Today I took my 2000 Golf 1.8T into a local shop for a oil
change and state inspection. He said that while it passed inspection, the
front...

2003 1.8T questions by
Eradicate Sampson
Good Morning, all.
Yesterday, I replaced the air filter on my 2003 1.8T for the first
time.
I noticed that the original filter looked a bit strange. It was the
usual pleated paper sort, but it also had a pad of what looked like
spun fiber glued to the bottom.
The replacement filter does not have...

GTI Value by
Chicago Paddling-Fishing
I have a 86 GTI and pondering selling it for a newer 4 door Golf (95-99).
What I dislike most is the GTI trans ratio where your already at 3k rpm
by the time your at 55mph in 5th. I was thinking I'd get a little better
milage with a standard Golf trans plus the 4 door would cut my insurance...

Should I buy this fox? by
none
Been running in circles thinking about this... recently I've fallen in
love with the VW Fox. Not sure if it's just the name, or it's cute
personality, or what, but as my current car now needs another clutch it
seems time to look at something different...
There's one for sale near me... a 1990...

Brake Bleeding Problem - '82 Rabbitt Diesel by
Wray McDonnell
When the brake pedal on this car started going to the floor, I looked for
signs of leaking brake fluid and leaks on any of the brake lines or wheel
cylinders. I found none and the brake fluid reservoir which sits atop the
master cylinder was at it's full mark. I suspected that the master...

I have a 98 Jetta and it's doing the exact same thing. So now I can't pass
