1997 Jetta Clutch Cable by dave AKA vwdoc1
UGH What a difficult/tricky thing to change IMHO. Bentley and Haynes were pitiful with their instructions. Besides the difficulty getting to the pedal end, twisting that end and slipping it in the pedal's hole is tricky. Anyone else have trouble with changing one? later, dave

B4 vr6 woes by starburst
Hi Drivers - The Serpentine belt on my B4 Passat VR6 (AAA engine) broke the other day, causing me to lose power steering and alternator. I coaxed the car on battery down the road a quarter mile to the next parking lot where the engine finally died. The battery was completely dead. I pushed the...

I have a 1984 GTI Rabbit, the front struts are blown out and the drivers side inner tire rod has lots of play. So I am going to replace the entire tie rod assembly and both struts. My questions is the order of the work. Should I replace the struts then do the tie rod, or do the tie rod while...

Car, 1987 Scirocco 16V. 233,700 miles. Location, Eastern Massachusetts. Time: Yesterday afternoon during tail end of snow/rain/freezing rain. Around 30 degrees F out. I've had this very occasional problem for a few weeks where it would loose power for a second or so. Then it progressed to...

Fuel Filter by IR
I installed a new main fuel filter in the same direction as the previous one, although it seems to contradict my Bentley. The Bentley wants the fuel going towards the tank. I've got mine going towards the front of the car. the car ran fine for a few days but I got starvation symptoms again, and no...

Stalling Golf by Ears
90 Golf 1.8 8v 130,000 miles: Lately the car has been stalling at intersections very intermittently (maybe twice a week- though it is increasing in frequency). I've recently done a backyard tune-up: plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter. Any suggestions?

Windshield washer adjustment 97 Cabrio? by Jim Elbrecht
One of the washer nozzles on my wife's 97 Cabrio died. I looked around online and saw them everywhere for $36 ea- but they weren't listed on the germanautoparts.com site & I like dealing with them because they usually have great prices- and they're local so in a pinch I can run and pick things...

Cost to replace a 1.8T engine? by jbk
Hi, I'm thinking of buying a used '02 Passat w/ 108k miles on a 1.8T engine where the timing belt broke on the freeway. I understand that there is a chance -- however small -- that the whole engine may need to be replaced. I'd like to be prepared for the worst-case-scenario. How much would that...

98 new beetle codes / resolution by Todd H.[_2_]
Howdy, I have no questions, but wanted to toss this info out into the ether as googlefood in hopes that it helps someone. The wife's lately-seldom-driven '98 New Beetle was throwing these check engine codes: p1582 idle adaption at limit p1128 long term fuel trim sys too lean.
