Drilling out sump plate holes ACCURATELY by Chris Hiebert
Hi all, I have a 1600 with some bad oil leaks around the studs which hold the sump plate to the bottom of the block. Some of them are quite loose and easily come out with only finger pressure, so I'm thinking I may have to drill/tap the holes out and get stepped studs, hopefully tightening...

Swing axle boots by ChrisKlinger
Replaced my boots November of 2012. Just noticed that one is already split at the top. I know I didn't buy bargain-basement. Wish I could remember where I bought 'em! Can anyone recommend who sells boots that last?

More on oils by John[_28_]
Recently I asked Penrite about oils and how quite a few VW owners in Aust use Diesel Oil for their AC VW,s. What surprised me is they took some effort for a long reply and also in particular I thoughts comments re Diesel Oil interesting. As an aside I dropped into the the hardware store again...

Briggs and Stratton! by John[_28_]
Always preferred to use monograde oil( for no overwhelming reason) for the T3 but its as rare as the proverbial in Aust. Was over at the local Hardware shop and noticed Briggs and Stratton have on the market Monograde 30 SAE high detergency oil for "aircooled 4 stroke motors"! Obviously...

what's in the "boot' of a K.G.? by Shoe-Chuckers
I went to pick up a floor jack and the young man wheeled in out of the store and stood behind my '69 K.G. waiting to put it in. I said no, there's in engine already in the space. He was young. and didn't see the air intake slots. Maybe he's never seen a K.G. before. Is that possible? hey, the...

Turn signal won't return to neutral - '71 Ghia by Steve Mc
After making a left turn, the signal remains on. It won't 'click' back to off/neutral. The right turn works fine. What would it entail to repair it ? Thanks, --

Beetle/bug Pickup project by tricky[_2_]
Hi all for a while now, I have been toying with the idea of making a beetle pickup for me to use for work. It would be more or less a 'standard' pickup design, but with a roof rack capable of carrying full 8x4 sheets . It will probably take me a year (or more) to complete.

6V to 12 conversion q. by Jorge[_2_]
a neighbor with a '60 bug asked me how difficult it is to go 12 volt. I thought the starter was the worst of it. tho you can spin a 6v starter with 12volt. isn't it easier to rebush the tranny and find a bendix that fits the ring gear? where can one get this? TIA g -- Karma ; what a concept!

My odometer has lost its mind! by ChrisKlinger
Filled up just after getting out of work, odometer shows 00621. Got home - straight home - ODO shows 00636. It's a 5 mile ride... No wonder I occasionally seem to get extraordinary MPG. Bet I've been changing my oil too often, too. Chris
