'05 Golf test drive... by
Shwackman
HI All, So I've got the fever for a new VW TDI. I went and test drove one
saturday, it was really cool. The salesman tried to demo the sunroof, and said
"the fuse must be blown". I went back today (wednesday), and the roof actuator
motor was laying in the front seat. Fuse panel was pulled off...

'05 jetta ignition key switch by
[email protected]
ok. I am a stumped by a 2005 jetta ignition. The key will not enter
the cylinder. There is a slide visible in the keyway, usually this is
the switch for the "key is in the ignition" chime. The slide appears
to be getting stuck. I can't imagine this is the first time this has
happened. Before I...

'05 Remote just died by
Tomas Vera
Hello All,
My remote key for my 2005 Golf just died suddenly... kind of.
The "Lock" and "Unlock Trunk" button still work but the "Unlock Doors"
doesn't work.
The manual states something about synchronization being lost. But I
tried the re-programming steps mentioned in the manual with no
success.

'06 Jetta + aftermarket headunit/receiver: will it fit? by
[email protected]
Thinking about buying a midrange cd player/headunit to replace the
factory radio in my '06 Jetta; something that'll play cds and also have
a front panel aux jack to hook my ipod into.
I only have one question: I was checking Crutchfield for info, and it
mentioned something about having to buy a...

'07 Jetta question by
Jim Pineau
I just got a new Jetta and when it is 39 degrees outside it dings and shows
a little snow flake on the display. Is this just the car telling me that it
is cold outside? I've looked through the manuals and found nothing.
Thanks,
Jim

'77 Rabbit Fuel Pump Relay help by
drk 421
I've got a '77 Rabbit, and the fuel pump relay is mounted on the top of
the fuse box, which has wires extended from the center of the fuse box
(where the fuel pump relay would usually go).
I found not find this documented in the Bentley manual (for those
years), nor in any other place.
I've...

'78 Rabbit research by
Herb Leong
Hello,
I am looking for info on my wife's '78 Rabbit. She needs a new
brake master cylinder and I am not sure which one to get. The
original master cylinder died and was replaced by a family friend
years ago and nobody knows if it was the correct replacement part.
Of course, the original master...

'80 VW Rabbit relay plate by
Chuck[_8_]
I have had some various funky issues occur with my headlights over
many years. The most recent iteration led me to checking the relay
plate under the dash. In low beam, one headlight would be on, the
other off. High beams were ok. In the relay plate, according to the
Bentley factory manual,...

'81 Rabbit electrical problem by
chris
This car has left me stranded so many times I'm
terrified to even take it out on the road. Basically
what happens is I'm driving along and all of the sudden
the instrument gauges take a nosedive. Within minutes
the car's battery is completely dead. If I get a jump,
it starts up and the charging...

'81 Scirocco craps < 2800 rpm by
nutso fasst
Hello.
This happened suddenly, stopped briefly, then started again:
Engine starts but idles (barely) extremely rough. Give it a little throttle
and it runs terribly rough, with backfires, until rpms are coaxed above 2800
or so, then it runs smooth.
Ambient temp is 100F and humid, but engine is...

'81 VW Rabbit Steering Rack Problem by
jfruniontown
Facts: 1981 rabbit, 1.7L, FI, 4sp, w/a/c, manual steering.
Westmoreland PA built. Tie rods OK.
For the past 5000 miles or so it appeared that when rounding a curve
at 30-40 mph in a right hand turn that the steering would "stick" or
"bind" at a point and then come back, almost as if the steering...

and was made by Indak of Chicago. The car still runs great,
gets teriffic mileage. :-) tnx rich

'82 Rabbit instrument display (speedo) light changing by
Robert Young
My '82 Diesel (I don't think that it will matter) has a burned out light
that illuminates the speedometer portion of the instrument cluster.
The parts guy at H&L Mueller here in Calgary seems to think that one
needs to remove the cluster to make the change.
Bently says that you can get at it...

'83 Vanagon - Any Tips ? by
Fred Mau
Just bought an '83 Vanagon - Gas, watercooled, 4-speed, 220 K miles, $1,200.
Needs a waterpump ($80 plus 2-1/2 hrs) but aside from that, it appears to
need only the normal nickel-and-dime items that one would expect on any 20+
year old vehicle.
I'm experienced with Golfs, Jettas, old Dashers and...

hard to start. After about 6 trys it will start. What is the most probably
cause - cold start valve, aux air regulator, thermo-time switch or...
