'97 GC hesitation... by
Cal
my '97 GC frequently has a brief hesitation after restarting a warm engine.
(I6.) When cold, I never notice a hesitation at all. I can drive until it
reaches operating temp. If I restart the engine before it completely cools
down, it will hesitate some on the first acceleration. It will...

'97 Grand Cherokee - Won't start, no spark by
[email protected]
My 1997 GCL Orvis Edition w/ 62K miles abandoned me tonight.
Went to dinner and a movie and upon returning to the vehicle it would
not start. Prior to this the Jeep has shown NO signs of imminent
failure.
It spins over very easy. I found the ignition coil at the front of the
engine, removed the...

'97 grand cherokee electrical problem... by
cal
Strange electrical problem with my jeep... Today, after starting the
jeep to head to work, I had to reset the date/time on my console.
This usually only happens when the battery has been disconnected.
After getting home this evening, I noticed all the lights, including
those in the dash, were...

'97 Grand fuel pump relay killed fuel pump? by
Joe_M
I have a '97 Grand Cherokee 4x4 that has had a myriad of ignition problems
(well ... maybe one problem with a myriad of 'solutions'). I finally
replaced the computer and the problems stopped for a couple of months. This
week the engine died a couple of times while driving in hot weather and then...

'97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0L stall problem by
Kyle Boran
I've been having a strange problem with my Jeep. Occasionally, it
will stall out shortly after starting. It keeps running if you just
let it sit there idling, but the stall seems to happen shortly after
it's put in drive. Often, it seems to happen only after repeated
shifts. For example, I'm...

'97 TJ Door Removal & Dead Battery by
[email protected]
I removed the doors (full steel) from my 1997 TJ Sport the other day.
I realized once the doors were off that the interior lights on my sound
bar and hard top remained ON, because of the buttons in the door
casings being left in the "open" position. I ended up removing the
bulb from the sound bar...

'97 TJ Tranny leak question by
Tri Duck
All -
New Jeep owner here. I have a slow leak in my transmission, it appears to
be coming from the seal that connects the 2 halves of the transmission.
It's leaking about the equilivant of 2-3 thimbles of fluid a week (this is a
1x a week driver so it sits for a week at a time) Is this...

'97 Wrangler Sahara - Pros/Cons? by
Dick
There is a 1997 Wrangler Sahara for sale near me. It appears to be in
very good shape. Looks like it has been towed behind an RV. I'm not
familiar with the various changes and years of the Wrangler. I know
this year went to all coil springs. Any comments good or bad about
this particular year...

'97 XJ won't start...and no codes by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have a 97 XJ that won't start, it turns over, but just won't fire
up. Now, ordinarily, i wouldn't bother posting with something of this
vague nature, however-- I can't pull up any codes. Not even a 55 will
appear, so does that mean the computer brain is dead?
The jeep was fine last night...

'97 zj airbag lamp by

'97 zj, I6, select-trac - airbag warning indicator relights after dash
lights cycle and it stays on. Horn still works (haven't checked cruise
control). Dealer won't tell me anything without the hassle of taking it
in and leaving it all day and I don't have a scan tool to get any info on
what the...

'97 ZJ gas leak by
J. Clarke[_2_]
Was at the post office yesterday and noticed something dripping
mightily. Dipped a finger in it and smelled, smelled like gas but it
was dirty and brown. When I got home last night I put it up on the
ramps planning to check it out this morning.
Gas leak would explain some things--I've been...

'98 Jeep Relay Question by

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD L6
The power windows stop working whenever the interior (cabin)
temperture gets (uncomfortably) warm. As soon as the interior cools
down, the power windows start to work again. This leads me to beleive
that the power window relay has out lived its...

'98 TJ Door Panel by
flatlander
The driver's side outside door handle broke and I had the local delaer
fix it. HOWEVER, when they put the panel back on the panel closest to
the dash seems about 1/4" to 1/2" higher than the back of the panel.
Is there an adjustment or did some grease monkey not get all the clips
snapped in,...

I also managed to get the rusted bolt off the clamp holding...

'98 XJ 4.0L benefit of headers? by
98XJ
Hello, group -
While crawling under my XJ 4.0L, I have been amazed by the degree to
which the downpipe from the exhaust manifold is collapsed. It is 2/3
shut at the bend.
I have mentioned this at both the local 4WD shop and at the dealership
parts counter, and the replies have been something to...

'98 XJ 4.0, power steering

steering fluid swishing about. I have replaced the fluid, but it
persists.
