ABS>>>So Confusing by
Ringo
I have a 2000 MX5 Miata, and had gotten my Insurance Company to reduce our
premium for our three vehicles by quite a bit, by driving so few miles on
all three (Being reteired). Paid my premium in full to Liberty Mutual for
both Home & Auto. Today in the mail get a couple of thank you letters,...

Timing Belt Idler Pulley question by
[email protected]
The saga of replacing my water pump continues. Finally swapped out the
water pump, and now am putting everything back together. For those of
you who have not ever considered replacing your water pump - it is a
rather time consuming endeavor on the Miata - remove the cam shaft
cover, accessory...

Just wondering after the fact... by
Ted King
I have a 2002 Miata. I did a dumb thing - I wasn't paying close
attention and took a corner a little too close. The rear wheel rode up
on the edge of the curb just enough to pinch the sidewall on the rim and
ruin the tire (sidewall got a hole in it - fortunately the rim just got
a little scuff...

Have you seen the Dodge Demon?
The two worst things about it:
1. It's not a Miata
2. It is a Dodge

Got any Miata peeves? Or hidden likes? by
[email protected]
So, we all know the Miata has driving fun covered. In a big way! But
what about things that are not so great? Or things you like that are
less talked-about. Here are some of mine!
Small peeves
- Horn
- Cup holder location (can live with it by now, though)
- Sun visors unscrew themselves (oh,...

Dura-crap battery by
pws[_1_]
As of today I am on my third Duralast battery for my Miata in less than
a year. They keep leaking, not cool. I do have a brand-new one again,
but my confidence level in it is zero.
I guess it is about time to order another Westco.

Miata's Effeminate? by
Turtoni
I used to own a Miata and traded it in a year or so ago for a more practical
new vehicle but it was an awesome fun car. I was wondering if anybody else
had experienced other guys thinking that a Miata is an effeminate car? I
guess the size makes it seem girlish to them, like a motor bike would?...

2005 MazdaSpeed wheels/tires by
bowman
I've got a 2005 MX5 Turbo that came loaded up with fancy, still like,
new Toyo tires and Racing Hart wheels. Total mileage 7000 miles as of
07/2010. I'm considering making this car my daily driver. In which
case I'd opt for lesser wheels and a good set of Michelin all weather
tires. Any idea how...

How best to teach my daughter to drive a Miata by
nosfatsug
Well, the time has come and I am now teaching my daughter to drive my Miata.
She quickly picked up the whole concept of a manual transmission and was out
on the open roads after a short practice session in a parking lot. As with
all new drivers to a manual transmission, the most challenging...

alt.autos.mazda by
Body Roll
Would a news admin be interested to create alt.autos.mazda
so that owners of Mazda 6s and 3s won't keep spamming
rec.autos.makers.mazda.miata ?
There is already quite a few groups under alt.autos.* and hardly any
rec.autos.makers.*
I don't have a direct access to any news servers anymore.
Thanks...

94 1.8 rev limiter. by
Mal Osborne
Read in a few places that the 94 1.8 is limited at 7000RPM. Mine seems to
spin a bit further than this, looks like 7200 on the tacho. Anyone confirm
what it really is?

Greets.
Been lurking here a month or so while researching our new car purchase.
Test drove Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS and
the MX-5.
The Solstice and the Sky have really nice styling, and corner well. The
engine and transmission are straight out of the Chevy...

Hello,
Call me dumb or something, I can't find the oil filter in my new '05
Mazdapseed. It's not in the same place as in my '99 Miata, obviously.
Can someone please tell me where it is? I was planning to ask the dealer

Timing Belt Pics at 16 years and 128,000 miles by
pws
I tore apart a 1.6 liter engine from a 1990 model with 128,000 miles and
decided to just cut the timing belt off.
The tensioners were going bad, the spring was rusty, and the water pump
was badly gunked up, but this original 16 year old belt looks like it
would have gone a lot longer.
It is very...

bouncing ride by
bokuglen
My '97 Miata with 80K miles has an annoying ride. Even on smooth
roads, if I hit a normal street manhole cover, the car bounces around.
I know it is supposed to have a firm ride, but this seems dangerous...
going around a curve and hitting a small bump results in a little side
skid.
I checked the...

How long will my battery last? by
Scott Streeter
I have a 2000 with the original battery still (4 1/2 years). I drive
my car all year long so it's not sitting at all. Just wondering if I
should be pro-active and change it now so I can avoid getting stuck
becaues this would be the time period it would go considering the age
and heading into...
