$1500.00 for a 44?? by
Greg[_1_]
Anyone know why these are so cheap
http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?jeep-sid=0&plID=354&partID=15586 I
mean $1479.00 for a complete front 44 with locker is pretty cheap. How does
the locker work on rubicons? Says for TJ YJ and CJ owners, but mounting into
those is responsibility of owner,...

MAT sensor by
Budd Cochran[_2_]
89 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 and all the bells and whistles
I'm picking up new O2 and Map sensors and figured I might as well
replace the MAT also.
Ok, O'Reilly's doesn't list one even after using ever acronym and word
combo I can think of.
So anyone know where I can get one other than the local jeep...

2004 Grand Cherokee Power Window Problem by
aetmos
Hi All,
I seem to have a problem with my rear passenger power window that's
really puzzling. I first noticed it when it would only go down, but
not up, from the rear door switch, and wouldn't move at all from the
driver's door switch. They were calling for rain, so I took apart the
door to...

258 head swap? by
Steve G
Ive been reading about the 4.0 head swap for 4.2 motors. Is this really as
good as it sounds or are there more headaches to be found?
What all has to be replaced besides the head?
Have to be fuel injected then?
40hp gain? really?

Thinking about a drivetrain swap by
Budd Cochran[_2_]
Donor vehicle: 89 XJ Limited (4.0, Asin 4 speed auto, NP242, 3.55 axles)
Recipient vehicle: 88 XJ Chief (4.0, BA 10/5, NP-231, 3.07 axles w/ CAD)
I'm pulling the 4.0, Asin 4 speed auto and NP-242 T-case from the 8 9 and
dropping them into the 88. I'll also be pulling the cruise control system,...

TPS sensor... :/ by
DougW[_2_]
Hmm. Had a couple downshifts on the highway (3-2) at no-throttle and a few hiccups when cruising lightly. Codes point to the
Throttle Position Sensor but the test shows it to be nice an smooth with no drop-outs. Passes the volt-meter test.
Transmission fluid is fine, no bubbles, correct level....

Who made my 1947 utility trailer? by
Lee Ayrton
This might be a bit far from topic but still, it has wheels, goes on the
road behind a Jeep.
I recently acquired a 4'x6' utility trailer. The registration paperwork
(and the original owner) says that it was made in 1947. The ID plate
riveted to the frame says that it was sold by the Sears,...

Mobile 1 & Moblie 1 EP Q by
Campbell C Freeman
What would be the difference (chemically, physically) between Mobile 1
("Classic - SuperSyn"), versus Mobile 1 Extended Performance (EP), that
would cause M1 EP not to satisfy D/C Jeep New Car Warranty Requirements,
whereas Mobile 1 does?
Is it: Mobile 1 SuperSyn meets ILSAC: GF-3 (energy...

New at this, trying to understand horse power by
Brian Foster
I have a 4.0 liter 6 cylinder in my GC. The Infinity FX35 has 3.5 liter 6
cylinder that delivers 280 hp and about the same mileage as my jeep.
How is the Infinity getting so much more HP and the same gas mileage with
smaller displacement?
We're talking 40% more HP.
Is it better Technology or...

Fram Air Filters by
Frank_v7.0
For a while now Fram oil filters have been the subject of warnings and
cautions, but their air filters have been given a "green light". Until
now. I bought a Fram CA8205 air filter for my 2006 Wrangler 4.0. The
fit has always been "snug", but in an air filter that's probably a good
thing....

Old Jeep drivers beware! by
Jeff DeWitt
The story has been going around in Studebaker circles for quite a while
that modern oils wern't good for old engines with flat top lifters, and
now Hot Rod magazine has a story about it.
Bob Palma with the SDC put it like this...
The June 2006 Hot Rod magazine has an excellent technical article...

Wacky Clutch by
Peter Pontbriand
'02 TJ with 4L and NV3550:
Anybody have a clue as to what would make clutch disengagement
intermittent???
I'm driving through a little village and press the clutch pedal to change
gears, and _nothing_ happens - the clutch remains engaged. I force it into
neutral, then can't get it into any gear...

Brand new '89 YJ by

Picked it up today - don't worry, I was able to get the Tcase in
neutral this time.
Here are the pictures: http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r139/

Needs a starter, battery, and something's up with the clutch - and I'm
sure a whole lot of other things will present themselves...

I'm no automotive expert, but many of you here seem to be, so I'm trying to
obtain as many opinions as possible on this.
Is a:

No leaks or bad emissions
Body/Interior very good condition
