Change of compression due to cylinder to block gasket?! by Matt S
HI, I'm in the process of putting new cylinders and heads on my engine. I've read the articles NOT to put the paper gasket from cylinder to block - so I won't. I've read to use a sealent, choices varied, Jan mentioned a thin gasket sealant ( not sure what) as there were thoughts a "thick" sealant...

I am new to the VW lifestyle. I have done a good share of researching but I can not find a question to my dilemma. I recently inherited a 1970 Beetle; I am working with the former owner to get it running. This past weekend we switched out the spark plug wires and adjusted the timing by ear and...

Pistons frozen to cylinders in a 1600dp by Alex Gilblom
Hi, Working on that `71 Ghia, I have the engine torn down, but pistons 1 and 3 are rusted/frozen to their respective cylinders. Any reccommended methods for working them loose? I tried the rubber mallet on the fins but it didn't make them budge. Thanks. -Alex

generator to alternator by David
I am hooking up an internally regulated alternator in place of generator as per Speedy Jim's website ( http://www.nls.net/mp/volks/schem/gen_alt.htm ). I spliced the wires ( 2 B+ & 1 D+ ) from the regulator, now the DF wire is all that is left on the regulator and it used to go to the generator. I...
