Bug headlight rings - are they supposed to be plastic? by
Remco
Hi All
Slowly but surely, I am collecting items to use for later. Last week I
bought headlight rings since mine are pitted. In reality, I won't use
them for quite a while.
The ones I bought were described as being for a "1969 VW Bus or Bug
Eyelids, Original , chrome finished , excellent...

Another Brosol 30/31 question! I didn't get any literature with my carb and

Change of compression due to cylinder to block gasket?! by
Matt S
HI,
I'm in the process of putting new cylinders and heads on my engine.
I've read the articles NOT to put the paper gasket from cylinder to
block - so I won't.
I've read to use a sealent, choices varied, Jan mentioned a thin gasket
sealant ( not sure what) as there were thoughts a "thick" sealant...

thermal coating on heads ??? by
bob
just reading a popular hotrodding mag article that shows them using a newer
thermal coating inside the combustion chamber, on the valves, and i think on
the top of the piston.
the whole idea is to reduce the heat transfer from the combustion chamber
into the heads, valves, etc., and thus gain a...

Wider Fenders by
TerryB
I want to make my fenders wider by at least and inch or inch and a half. I
would like to do this by cutting and welding my metal fenders, using
another set of fenders to do it or just cutting and adding some sheet
metal. How is this best accomplished?

Timing: 46-60 degrees off!! by
[email protected]
I am new to the VW lifestyle. I have done a good share of researching
but I can not find a question to my dilemma.
I recently inherited a 1970 Beetle; I am working with the former owner
to get it running. This past weekend we switched out the spark plug
wires and adjusted the timing by ear and...

Free...rear window glass from a 64 Beetle by
haole
I'm the guy who gave away my 64 beetle here about 3 years ago. I was
cleaning out my storage locker and ran across a rear window that I had
forgotten about. It has the original seal (dried up) with trim (good
shape).

Pistons frozen to cylinders in a 1600dp by
Alex Gilblom
Hi,
Working on that `71 Ghia, I have the engine torn down, but pistons 1 and 3
are rusted/frozen to their respective cylinders. Any reccommended methods
for working them loose? I tried the rubber mallet on the fins but it didn't
make them budge.
Thanks.

generator to alternator by
David
I am hooking up an internally regulated alternator in place of generator as per Speedy Jim's website (
http://www.nls.net/mp/volks/schem/gen_alt.htm ). I spliced the wires ( 2 B+ & 1 D+ ) from the regulator, now the DF wire
is all that is left on the regulator and it used to go to the generator. I...
