Follow up on body shop estimate story by
223rem
So my girlfriend was given a $9,000 estimate by a
body shop recommended by her Infinity dealer.
Two days later I took the car to a nearby town
and got estimates from two body shops. Both
shops estimates were around $2,700.
Amazing.

A fearless cyclist by
223rem
Last night I was on the East side on Indy, on US40/Washington street, around 10 pm.
It was dark, and that is a very rundown area of Indy with few street lights.
I suddenly came upon a Black dude nonchalantly riding a crappy mountain bike
without any lights in the middle of the right lane. He was...

Sometimes I love LLBs! by
223rem
I love it when a cop car travelling in the left lane
at 20-30 mph over the speed limit is suddenly blocked by
a scared ****less LLB who, no matter how aggressively
tailgated by the cop, will keep matching legal speed with
vehicles in the right lane, trapping the pig behind :)

Watch your speed when driving at night!! by
223rem
On three different occasions, all late at night, in three different
Indiana cities, I've been radar-ed by cop cars (twice from behind,
once from an oncoming) on deserted streets. Who'd think of obeying
the speed limit (35-40) on a practically empty street at 3 am?!
So the highway robbers are now...

Use of shoulder when turning right by
223rem
Near my house there is a two lane rural highway with wide shoulders,
posted at 55 mph.
Most drivers, when turning right into driveways orside streets, first
move over to
the shoulder and only then slow down and turn. However, some idiots do
not use the
shoulder at all when turning right, slowing...

Please help ID car by

Sporty-looking, small (about the size of Miata) coupe or maybe
convertible,
with the letter T inside a circle on the trunk lid. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Another bull**** technology: detecting an intruder inside the car by
223rem
Wow, Volvo has come up with a new, great invention... now your Volvo
will warn you from far away if there is an intruder hidden in the
backseat waiting to kidnap and kill you.
Volvo has sunk to exploiting Hollywood movie cliches and fearmongering
to convince dumb women to buy their overpriced...

Bus crash in Atlanta blamed on exit design?!! by
223rem
The driver was very probably asleep. How can you not realize that you're
SUDDENLY CLIMBMING a fairly steep slope? Also note the absence of skid
marks. But now it is the highway designers that are put on trial, not
the man directly responsible for the crash. Does everything in our
society has to...

Auto-dimming rear view mirror sucks by
223rem
I have a 05 Maxima SE, and I am very unhappy with the
performance of the autodimming rearview mirror. It often
fails to detect glare, especially when it is relatively
bright outside. Even at night I am sometimes blinded by
vehicles behind me because the damn thing fails to oppacify
for some unknown...

Crazy idea? by
223rem
I'd like to teach my two rather wimpy kittens to hunt, or at least
give them something entertaining and instructive to do.
I want them to be more like my girlfriends' cat, that cool cat
who killed those bunnies and birds.
I am considering the idea of buying several small rodents from
the pet store...

Can out-of-state police pull you over? by
223rem
I was doing 80 on the Indiana toll road (speed limit 65 mph)
when I noticed a cop car ahead and slowed down to its speed of
about 70 mph.
Well, I soon noticed that the cop car had IL plates. Thinking
that he cant pull me over, I passed the cop car (on the left)
and was soon back to 80 mph. Was I...

Are these people insane? by
223rem
A few day ago I was driving on I465 (the multilane belt around
Indy). I moved to the rightmost (first) lane to pass a white SUV
with smoked windows doing maybe 60 in the second lane. Note that
the rightmost was the only free lane at that point. Not far ahead of us,
a semi was merging from a...

Biggest asshole cop I've ever seen by
223rem
I was on state road 37, which is interstate-like
(2 lanes per direction, separated by grass median).
Speed limit 55. I was in a group of 3 cars, doing
only about 61-62 in the right lane.
The reason for that is that there was a suspicious
looking black, shiny Crown Victoria doing the same
speed just...

Why do motorcyclists ride in formation? by
223rem
instead of riding in single file down the middle of the lane?
You've seen them--especially Harleys: the first rides close to
the right boundary of the lane, the next one close to the left
boundary, and they continue alternating like that. Some even
ride abreast.
How can it be safe for them to ride...

Another LLB cop at work by
223rem
Today on I69 southbound another cop was at work
"pacing" as Jaybird put it--that is, cruising in
the left lane at the speed limit (65 mph). He did
that for 40 miles, causing a huge backup of vehicles
behind him because of course nobody dared pass him.
This incident confirms what I always...
