Type I Clutch Cable by
Doug
I have a 1967 Type I Beetle with a stock diaphragm clutch. The clutch
cable breaks every couple of years. It always breaks at one of the ends
where the cable is crimped into the fitting. It never breaks anywhere in
between. I always grease the cable upon installation. Is this common to
break this...

QUESTION: Dash Lights by
[email protected]
Does 'next to the speedometer' mean at the bottom of the speedometer
or next to it?
It might be the oil pressure light or the gernerator/alternator
warning light.
Get a Robert Haynes manual for your model and look it up.
There is a chance someone put a green light diffuser on the bulb which
makes...

"new" starter grinding by
Mel P.[_2_]
I replaced my starter with a 'new' rebuilt one...
When I turn the ignition, there's a grinding noise momentarily and then it
starts.
I removed it to check the flywheel gears and the starter gear look fine, no
shavings.
Is it possible the starter is bad?
What else should I check?

Quick question....
If you can smell petrol/gas is it at a combustible level?
I have a very faint smell of it when I open the bonnet in my 68 Type1.
Cheers

Floor pan replacement question by
Ervin Charles
Hey Group,
I'm about to completely replace the floor pans on my 76 SB Vert and would
like some pointers from some of you who have done this. I know you must take
a multitude of measurements before cutting out the old pans so that you get
the bolt holes in the right spot to fit the body. Are any of...
