41% of crashes occur on Corners by
Old Wolf
In my area is a "deadly stretch of road". To try and reduce the road
toll, they put up signs with various interesting messages.
Today, one of those signs said "41% of crashes occur on Corners".
But I don't see how that is supposed to help.

Wrong Way MFFY! by
Dave
http://tinypic.com/iwucew.jpg
Since some of the class hasn't been paying attention and doesn't
understand MFFY, I've posted a picture to demonstrate.
The photo shows a car that, after a block of going the wrong way on a
one way street, had flipped off four other drivers who honked at him.
You can...

Snow tires / cold pavement by
Darryl
I have 4 Dayton Winterforce tires on my FWD car every winter.
I know that warm pavement will wear snow tires quickly. My question is
which is worse: warm or pavement?
If I take the snow tires out for a 200 mile drive on dry highway
pavement, but it's colder than 15 F out, how much worse is the...

HOV lane behavior... by
brink
just wondering what people's thoughts are on this....
in so. cal, the HOV lanes are restricted 24 hrs/day to 2+ occupants.
exiting and entering the lanes are also restricted by solid white lines.
there are dotted exit/entry areas every 1-3 miles that are pretty short
(less than a quarter mile...

SAVE UP TO 35% ON THIS PRODUCT "NEW" by
Don
This is one person's testimony:
I drive a 2005 Toyota Solora. I normally get 22 mpg in the city. On
my last fill up using the powder, I got 33.2 mpg in the city!! I love
the powder, and wouldn't be without it! Also, I always have to fill up
every 5 - 6 days, but I was able to go an extra 3...

If true, that would make blond blue-eyed Gulf War veteran Tim McVeigh
the sneakiest Arab ever.

Worst stretch of road? by
Ad absurdum per aspera
Driving California 58 between Bakersfield and I-5 made me think of
this: What would you nominate as the nastiest stretch of major
thoroughfare (neglecting city streets and minor rural roads and
inherently scenic/tourist routes) that you've driven recently?
That part of 58 is quite heavily...

A New Category of Sloth by
Scott en Aztlán
We have already identified several categories of Sloth, including
* Sloth Mergers, the doddering ninnies who take the on-ramp at 45 MPH
* Sloth Coasters, the guys who take their foot off the gas whenever
they see a red light (or even a "stale green") somewhere before the
horizon
* Sloth Passers,...

The "Sloth Slalom" by
Scott en Aztlán
Ran the Sloth Slalom course today. Staggered Sloths, each doing about
40 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, stationed in both lanes but with sufficient
space for traffic wishing to drive at the speed limit to thread their
way through.
No doubt someone will now pipe up and say I am a "MFFY" and that I...

More Rude Drivers by
C. E. White
Well I had another jerk pull a "cool" stunt on me yesterday. I was waiting
at a light with two lanes of traffic turning left from one street to
another. I'm in the left most lane about three cars back. There is an uber
driver in BMW is in right most left turn lane behind a delivery truck. When
the...

Right Lane Impatience by
Larry Scholnick
We all understand how an ideal KRETP-based world would work. If there are 3
lanes in your direction of travel, the left lane would have the fastest
drivers while they were passing the in-between speed drivers in the #2 lane;
the #3 lane would have the slowest drivers who aren't passing anyone...
