Radiator blues by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have a 96 Golf 1.8 GL that we bought 5 months ago. Everything has
been going ok until recently when the radiator started leaking
(dripping and steaming). I've managed to slow things down a little by
using some of that stuff that I know you're not supposed to use ( stop
leak stuff). It seems...

Red Line Gear Oil by
Brian Running[_2_]
Now that it's finally gotten cold here, I can report that Red Line MT-90
gear oil really does work as claimed in Red Line's marketing literature.
Much easier shifting than the factory oil when the tranny is really
cold -- 5 deg F this morning. Recommended as an alternative to VW G51
or G52,...

window recalls? by
Steve L
I know this is probably old old news for most of you, but my
daughter has a 99 VW New Beetle and she is having window problems.
Evidently they are off the track at the moment and won't roll up. But I have
paid for
window motors quite a while ago when the car was almost new.
Can anyone explain...

HVAC backlight by
Corey
I have a 2003 Jetta 1.8T (with standard climate control, not the auto.
system). A couple months ago, the backlight for the HVAC controls went out.
It would sometimes come on, but not much. Not a big deal; you just have to
adjust temp. control and which vents are being used by feel. I figured it...

92 Passat - problems again! by
Tavish Muldoon
Hello,
I have a 92 Passat CL. I have been to the mechanic 2x now and the
same problem keeps happening.
It is an automatic transmission. At stops - (traffic lights), it
idles very roughly like it is going to stall and vibrates. Once I
start driving, it lags like it is going to stall then starts...

98 Cabrio- A/C evaporator housing inspection by
Jim Elbrecht
My wife's Cabrio has water coming in from the evaporator cover.
I found the drain through the firewall and it looks like the flapper
might have been held closed by the fire-retardent insulation that
covered it. I fixed that & shot some water up in the opening to
rinse.it out.
The drain appears...

sassyvwgal
I have a 2002 VW Jetta that has a warning light that is on, but I can not
find out what the light means and what it is warning me about. It is a
circle with 3 dashes on each side of the circle. Can anyone tell me what
that warning light means? Thanks in advance! Sassy

I hope someone can advise me with regard to putting new brake shoes on the
Jetta.
I have removed the caliper on one side, removed the old shoes and have been
trying to
move the caliper cylinder back clockwise to permit clearance for installing
the new shoes.
As I have said, I have been turning the...

91 Golf Intermittent power surge by
mini chifa
I have a 91 Golf GL 1.8, and it's been acting a bit funky.
Usually, for me, it has little power. But every now and then, i'll
start it up and BAM! it's good to go! It's like I have a little sports
car again. But the next day it's gone again.
Another intermittent thing it'll do is when i'm...

I drive an 82 rabbit pickup gasser without power steering or power

all but given out. The dummy light it on and the brake pedal nearly
goes to the floor. When I am driving on snow pack, the front left
