I'd like to call it skill by
J. Clarke
but it was pure dumb luck. About a block from the police station, going
down a hill, about 15 mph because I had just hit one ice patch, there's a
van stopped way ahead about halfway down. I start to slow down. ABS kicks
in, no traction at all, I mean I'm not slowing in the slightest. I...

Nylon Fasteners - 08 Wrangler by
Jim[_46_]
Has anyone found a good replacement for those silly body fasteners
that are used for the front pan and grille? They are p%%% poor and
almost never come out without some assistance. I would love to replace
them with something that works.. I need to try and get the headlights
aimed better and...

Grand Wagoneer Air Conditioning by
[email protected]
In continuing to troubleshoot my way through my Grand Wagoneer's
mechanical problems, I turn my attention now to the Air Conditioning
System. My 1987 GW has Factory Air Conditioning.
When selecting "AC" on the Air Conditioning control panel, nothing
happens, i.e., no fan, no air, etc. Unlike...

Tire size upgrade question for stock XJ by
bman
I have a stock 2000 Cherokee limited (normal xj body and stock
suspension). I didn't want to do a lot of Google searching to figure
out my question. Thought i would ask here first, this group has been
of very good help to me in the past.
I have a change to get a good deal on some nice used tires:...

PS System Purge by
[email protected]
In order to replace a failed Grand Wagoneer PS Pump mount bracket, I
had to remove the pump and drain all the PS fluid out, remove a line
from the back of the pump, etc. When I get all this reassembled and
new fluid in the reservoir, is there any procedure to purge air out of
the PS lines and...

Power Steering Pump Mount by
[email protected]
While changing a fan clutch, I decided to replace all my v-belts.
While attempting to install the power steering belt, I went to tighten
the belt at the pump and the whole thing flopped over. The mounting
bracket is broken off about 1/2" above the inside (toward engine)
attachment point.
NAPA...

Grand Wagoneer Fan Blade/Viscous Fan by
[email protected]
I'd appreciate help in diagnosing the actual parts needing replacement
with the following symptoms:
A chattering noise led me to note that the cooling fan blades were
striking the fan shroud. Closer inspection revealed that the fan was
wobbling, and even further inspection showed that the viscous...

Grand Wagoneer Trailering Package by
[email protected]
Is there a way to tell if a Grand Wagoneer has "Trailering Package"
option that was offered?
I'm not sure what all it entails, but it would be helpful to know in
preparing to tow a 19' travel trailer.
Thanks to all.

Power door window repair 1988 Grand Wagoneer by
mark
The white plastic tractor track feed broke and I hate paying retail.
I've scoured the net and youtube for a video on how to replace this
but can only get sketchy instructions. Seems I can unbolt the window
and slide all the way up and hold it up with shims placed in the
weatherstrip in the door to...

Freeing Muffler - Grand Wagoneer by

Any advice would be very appreciated on how to free a muffler from a
Catalytic Converter.
After an afternoon's work and a gallon of Blaster penetrating oil, I
managed to free all of the brackets from the exhaust system aft of the
muffler, as well as the clam holding muffler and Catalytic...

2000 Jeep cherokee battery issues by
bspear78
I recently noticed that the battery charge gauge was showing no charge
on the battery. I tested the battery and found it to be bad so I
replaced it. Car starts without a problem every time and I have no
other symptoms but the gauge is now reading low at start up and then
goes to zero after about 10...

GW Muffler Replacement by

Any advice would be appreciated regarding a good replacement for the
OEM muffler on a 1987 Grand Wagoneer. There is a dizzying array of
choices at NAPA and I am not sure which one would be the equivalent of
the original equipment.
I am not looking for loud sound or anything like that--just as...

Wagoneer Power Steering by
[email protected]
I am having a bit of trouble with my power steering, in that it
"feels" weak, i.e., the wheel oscillates when turning tight at low
speed or out of a parking spot, and I've recently had the engine die
in a tight turn. I've checked the belts.
One noteworthy clue: I haven't had this GW long, and...

03 Jeep Liberty check engine code P 0455 by

Today I was driving to work ( 03 Jeep Liberty ) and the "check engine"
light came on. When I got to work and got out of the car I noticed my gas
cap was off and just dangling there. I replaced the cap and went to work.
When I got off work and headed home I noticed the "check engine" was
still...

Wagoneer Fuel Mileage by
[email protected]
What causes extreme high fuel consumption? I checked my 1987 Grand
Wagoneer over a 700-mile road trip, only to discover that it is
getting 8.7 mpg!
Now I wasn't expecting much over about 12-14 mpg, (the factory
propaganda from the period touts 16 mpg--I've never gotten that much
on any of my GWs)...

Its rather long at 5 mins, but watching you will find that you will be

think a /combined/ IQ of 100 is suspect.
The question begs, do you kick yourself in the ass and(or) kill the

T-case shifted? by
Scott in Baltimore[_2_]
The Jeep: '97 TJ 4cyl auto, basically stock.
What's up: It's hard to shift into 4WD & 2WD. There is a gear type noise
when driving that was never there for the first 14 years. Did something
move in my driveline? Would it be cheaper to attempt to drive it 25 miles
to my repair shop or get it towed...
