What CIS head for my ABA swap? by
[email protected]
I have my first Scirocco, an unmolested but slightly raggy 85 8v.
Long time VW driver, but this is becoming my favorite fast.
Anyway, it's slow, it's a 90hp motor, eh.
And it has a ton of oil leaks, and I have a feeling what might well be
a burnt valve or worn cam lobe.
So, being I am a salesman...

98 New Beetle Starter parts problem by
James Tomalonis
Hi,
I posted here a few days ago with a question about how to remove the starter
from my 98 Beetle.
That post was here but now seems to have gone into cyberspace. Didn't get a
reply anyway. :-)
Well, I finally got the friggin thing out and had it checked at my local
starter/alternator shop and...

99 jetta 2.0 won't stay running by
[email protected]
I have a 99 jetta 2.0 AEG. Car was doing great. Went on vacation,
returned to find dead battery. Thought must have left a light on, etc.
Charged the battery and tried to start. Car will start initially, but
in seconds runs very rough, misfires, and then dies. Got code 1543:
Throttle Actuation...

Starting issue and jumping tach needle on 89 GLi 16V by
Theo
Hello all,
Every few years I throw this question out to the group and fish for ideas,
but the problem persists.
Often (whenever I'm about to say it correlates with dampness or cold or time
between startups, it happens or doesn't happen when it shouldn't) the engine
will fire, then die immediately....

my 04 passat is falling apart by
ItBeMe
I was wondering if this ever happened to anyone else.
This weekend I noticed something hanging underneath the engine.
I figured I must have picked up some trash when traveling on the freeway.
As it turns out, what has happened, is the screws holding the radiator
splash
guard had fallen out. ...

sensors on oil filter housing, 95 VR6 passat by
stag5353
Hi,
I have recently had a few stray oil pressure warning buzzers go off on
my 95 passat VR6. The dealership checked the pressure and everything is
up to spec... they said to change to a heavier oil and it would go
away. I still get these warnings occasionally after a long drive.
Next, I checked...

Doors? by
Edvardo
Have a '92 Passat GL - the engine and trans are fine and so is the body (in
spite of Minnesota winters...), except for the front doors. My daughter had
the car down in Chicago for about 2 years and when she brought it back there
was rust in the lower edges of the doors from scraping on curbs. ...

2001 VW Beetle by
SwtPea
I recently purchased a USED 2001 VW Beetle. There are no warning bells,
ding dongs when I leave the lights on, seat belts not warn or keys in
ignition. Did someone disconnect them or is it an eletrical problem?

Passat tranny by
Charles
I have read here about "sealed" auto transmissions on VWs. Is that the case
for my 2002 1.8T 5 speed stick ?
Also, can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is for that car ?
Much appreciated
Charles

I'm currently restoring my '87 VW Scirocco 16v and just recently acquired an
OE exhaust downpipe ($1200.00 + at a VW dealer), I've cleaned it up and
ready to install however since I still have it off I was considering either
ceramic coating or heat wrapping it prior to install. My question is...

Older car insurance by
William J. Leary Jr.
A number of folks here own older VW's.
Some of us have paid over book value for hard to find ones in very good
condition, and then spent even more to restore them mechanically and
cosmetically.
But, when one of these is in an accident the insurance company goes by book
value or, if they're...

It dawned on me that the belt should stay attached ubtill I saw the TDC

I loosened the tensioner removing the timing belt and locked the cam in

Giovanni
Hi all,
recently, I've bought a second hand GOLF IV 1900 TDI 90hp. I've no
problems with this car, but I've decided to do a dignostic test (with
an obd equipment).
The result has been the error code DTC 17931 "Crash Signal from Airbag
Control Unit range/performance". The Airbag has no error in...

Power Window Regulator by
Wray McDonnell
'87 Vanagon Camper
The passenger side power window won't go down more that 2-3 inches. It
doesn't seem to be the switch as it's the same using with the drivers or
passengers switches (actually it's a button for up and down).
I have taken off the inside cover off the door and greased the guide...

San Jose, CA area VW service? by

I hate to take my car (2001 VR6) to the dealer for service - I think it's a
huge waste of money. Can anyone recommend an independent shop in the San
Jose Bay Area that is good?
Thanks

1998 vw rialta vr6 automatic transmission by

I experienced some problem with my vw auto transmission. All a sudden
the engine was free reving and not engaging. But after few minutes of
idling, it was doing fine again. I suspected that the auto transmission
fluid was too low, but I cannot find any dip stick...or simply no way
of checking the...
