Engine quits ~10 seconds after starting by
74 Standard
I have tried all the tricks I could think of, but seem to be getting no
more close to figuring what is wrong with the usually trusty 74
standard Bug.
engine: 1600dp
carburation: 34-pict (Solex & Bocar)
distributors: an 009, a SVDA, and the stock dual vacuum
ignition: both Compu-fire and stock...

where to go from here? by
78busVeeDub
I was given a 78 VW bus. It comes stock with a 2.0L FI engine. Mine
however, did NOT come with the FI system. I suppose the PO installed a
Holley 2 barrel carb. I didn't receive any info on the bus or engine so
I can only assume that the present fuel pump is the original or the
what is supposed to...

carb misting by
914
I have dual weber 40IDFs that are misting fuel up thru the top of the
carbs. It is coming out the jet or nozzle in the center of the throut
and splashing up. I have my fuel pres reg set to 2lbs so I don't think
pressure is a problem.

Points re-visited by
A Veteran
I think I've got if figured out. Just before the points burned there was
a miss. Traced that to a bad plug.
Q. is ; did a bad plug cause the points to burn?

Another Ghia Q., by
A Veteran
I've heard you can put a front end from a beetle (ball Joints) into
a Ghia by flopping the bracket that holds the steering box.
seems the steering wheel column is at a different angle.
Is this true?

Horn q? /71 Ghia by
A Veteran
Someone put in an after market steering wheel and I can't figure how to
get a horn button into the middle .
I ran a new wire down the center of the "tube" but I don't see the
connection for the surrounding tube. the one that at least in older
cars was not grounded, it "floated" n rubber.
Help!

Ghia question by
A Veteran
I just bought a '71 coupe and the cable/latch mechanism was missing for
the gas door . I had a spare from a '70 and it came up short.
Could they really have changed the length of the handle pull cable ????

A Veteran
it back fired a coupla times and then wouldn't start. dead battery.
after charging it , the motor started and it seems the "gen." idiot light
now doesn't glow.
All I could find wrong was the battery post connections were not too
clean or
tight.
Could that we the source of the problem? It seems to...
