a/c problem on '97 VW Golf by [email protected]
I refilled the refrigerant in May 2004, and the Golf was cold again until July 2005. I took it to a shop, and they topped off a pound of refrigerant and ran the cold a/c for 45 minutes. It blew cold air for another 30 minutes over the next two days, and then it stopped blowing cold air again. I...

96 Jetta by Terry Taylor
I have a 96 Jetta with 137K miles on it. It's been a solid performer since I bought it approximately 40K miles ago. It's developed a strange noise. When I lock or unlock the doors using the remote key entry, there is a knocking noise in the trunk for approximately 15 - 30 seconds. It sounds like...

oil pressure warning buzzer 90 golf by DruG
Hi there, I'm just wondering, as I've been having my oil pressure warning buzzer come on intermittently in my 90 auto golf, is the control unit for it in the instrument cluster? So if I just swapped out the cluster with another one I have and it didn't come on anymore would that potentially solve...

99 VW Passat - Actually a good car by Brandon
Over the last 2 years, I've posted comments regarding my frustration with my 1999 VW Passat 1.8T. My car now has about 105K and has been trouble free for the last year or so. I used to drive Hondas and was not accustomed to the maintenance required on these cars -- and, to further...

95 Golf 2.0 hot starting/running problems by Name
First post in years - hoping for insight. My 2.0 litre GTI Mk. III is becoming increasingly troublesome when starting from a hot engine in hot weather (which is rather common in Texas, unfortunately) First symptom was intermittant and began maybe two summers ago. On very hot days if I'd parked...

Golf VR6 1996 Engine by washboard
Am thinking of buying one of these with a full service history and 92000 miles for about £2000. Can find no record of a cambelt change and engine does not look as if it has one - is it a camchain engine. Is the engine a real V6 or is it a "staggered" straight 6 with one head and only two...

shudder-New Beetle 2002 TDI by dwvick
VW 2002 TDI automatic shudders going increasingly often on the road. Has 55000 miles on it. Power train warrenty left. This feels to me like a transmission problem; although, TDI club seems to have some reference to a fuel adjustment problem. Any thoughts before I take it in. Shudder happens when...
