rack and pinion by
limehand[_2_]
My '87 Golf has been diagnosed as having R&P damage (sticks on turns
and clunks when steering wheel is turned while stationary) I have told
this is not worth fixing as it is too expensive ...Iam wondering just
how difficult it is to exchange the R&P ...
thanks

'95 Golf GL - door locks by
Tobin Fricke
In my new-to-me '95 Golf III GL (has '96 styling... sold in Canada), the
automatic door locks are somewhat unreliable. All of the locks are
supposed to lock/unlock together when you (un)lock one of the front doors
(it's a four-door). Instead, some of them go and some of them don't....

99 Jetta Idling Crappy by
thump3r
I've got an intermittent issue with my 99 Jetta. It drives fine, but
idling, it pulses from ~800RPM to ~500RPM (and sometime stalls). It
doesn't happen all the time, but seems to happen more often when the
engine is cold or there's an electrical load (headlights, loud stereo,
power windows, etc)....

Long term Passat issues? by
D&LBusch
I'm at that funny stage when I'm considering trading my 2004 1.8 Passat.
44,000 miles 5 speed. I may buy a Hybrid. What are the long term costs of
keep the Passat? I've read that repairs as they age can be annoying and
expensive.
Thanks in advance.

Golf stalling problem solved- new question by
Ears
'90 Golf 8v
I had a rough running problem and the car was stalling at
intersections and starting hard.
I replaced the coolant temp. sensors to no avail.
Upon closer inspection I discovered a giant tear in a hose. It's the
air hose at the highest point on my motor- on top of the valve...

79 Rabbit wont start by

My 79 Rabbit (gas) died while idling. Ran perfect before that. I have
spark and fuel when the key is in the starter position. As soon as I
let it to run position it dies. New fuel pump relay. Fuel pump works
when jumpered. New ignition switch did nothing. Could a coil fail and
cause this? I'm a...

Keep it or not by
PatAL7L
I have a 1985 1.8L auto Jetta bought used in 2002. It has something
over 200.000 miles on it (odo hasn't worked for about a year and I've
been too lazy to take it out of the car and fix the pawls again).
It's a daily driver, and my seventh VW (Type 3 squareback, three type

...what do you guys/gals think?? by
HT
I've recently had my 2000 VW refusing to start for me. 2 mornings in
a row ( where it was pretty cold -21 degrees celcius). I took it down
to the dealer, and they checked for power drain, battery, alternator,
and couldn't find anything. I've left it there for a couple of days,
and apparently it...

Greetings, aficionados:
Lucky enough to have a brace of 2005 Passat wagons (estates for those in the
UK/Aussie..), one a 1.8T 4-motion gas and the other (preferred) a 2.0 TDI
with waaaaaay more grunt.
Here in Nova Scotia, seasonal temps are dipping to -10 degrees C and
colder.... and the TDI...
