engine tin by
Bas
Hi all,
I was cleaning some engine tin today when I noticed that this piece of
"sled tin" has a hole in it. See:

The hole is located under the thermostat and looks to be factory made,
but I don't understand its purpose? The engine it was...

More Mario by
AircooledJohn
It sickens me to see him still trolling RAMVA for new victims. Here's
an e-mail I got from a recent victim. Newbs read his posts on RAMVA
and just read enough to think he's good at restorations, but do not
read further to see Mario's history.
"Hey there,
I was reading around on the samba, and...

Front end shimmy by
curly[_2_]
I was out driving my '68 bug when I went over some pretty bumpy railway
tracks at about 50kmh. The front of the car started to shimmy and shake to
the point I thought I had broke something. I slowed down to investigate and
the shimmying stopped. I haven't had it since and can't figure out what...

Trying to ID some wheels. by
trey
I don't think my first try went through b/c I tried to attach a file, I
will try again. Anyone recognize these wheels? I have never seen
another pair like them. I would imagine they were from one of the main
wheel companies, American Racing, or something like that. Any...

best shocks by
Mel P.[_2_]
Which brand are the best shocks for a Bug? I don't mind spending more if
the ride is smooth and soft. This is for my 77 Bug used for occasional
commute and weekend driver.

Just 1 of those days by

Had a kid in a borrowed SUV miss a curve and go flying off the road at
our
place the other day. The road is higher the our pasture by about 10
feet.
The SUV rolled multipile times for about 100 yards before it hit a
tree.
Kid was not wearing a seat belt and got ejected pretty early in...

Any news on Speedy ? by
[email protected]
Has anyone heard how Speedy Jim came out of his surgery ?
Up until now I tried not to post and ask as he didn't mention it on
this
newsgroup but damn, I'm kind of worried as I haven't heard any updates
since he went into the hospital and he did mention it on his website.

? tire size '68 bug by
mig
Hi
I own a '68 Volkswagon automatic bug and need new tires. The tire
size is 165R/15, but they've discontinued that tire size and people at
Firestone & Goodyear shops couldn't tell me what size tire I needed.
Can someone recommend a replacement size?
Thanks a lot,
Mig

anyone in STL that could help tune my SB? by
barnhart_pinball
I just got my engine back in my 72 SB - after frying a piston. I replaced
the pistons/cylinders and put new gaskets where needed. I also rebuilt the
carb and replaced the ignition components.
I finally got it started tonight but it's not right. I worked with it for
about an hour and got it to...
