Independence Day Poem by
Earle Horton[_30_]
I hate motor homes,
Their diesel fumes sucking in my vent window,
The smell of their brakes between the two mountain passes,
And the big hair of their women.
I hate dually pickups in the middle of the road,
With their Arizona plates,
Their fifth wheel trailers,
And their Jeeps tagging along behind.

them are the brakes. by
DougW[_2_]
So I take my heep to a local mechanic I've had work done at before.
The first clue was some younger man called me asking about how to
shut off the alarm. :) Ok. The owner of this shop is past
retirement age so that's not a surprise.
They put on my new rotors and pads, fixed (welded up) the...

Grand Wagoneer Steering Pump Fiasco (Part II) by
[email protected]
Last winter, I experienced some very sloppy steering in my 1987 Grand
Wagoneer, and upon investigation, discovered one arm of the PS pump
mounting bracket cracked completely through.
I was fortunate enough to find a replacement bracket at my used Jeep
specialty shop here in Spokane replaced the...

Grand Wagoneer Trailer package by
[email protected]
I posted this question before, but didn't really get an answer, so
will try again: What constitutes a "trailering package" on a 1987
Grand Wagoneer, and what are the indications that the GW is so
equipped?
As a secondary question, I am contemplating pulling a 23' travel
trailer, and want to know...

94 JGC 4.0L no check engine light by
[email protected]
During startup sequence with ignition switch in run the "Check Engine"
light fails
to illuminate. The fuel pump also does not energize.
Problem was intermittent but is becoming worse.
My initial guess as to the the cause of grief was the ignition switch.
Vehicle does not have a security system.

97 ZJ 5.2 oil filler won't come off by
J. Clarke
Bizarre. Went to top up the oil just now and the filler won't open. It
just turns and turns and turns and occasionally goes "click".
I presume I get a new filler cap, bust the knob off the old one, and
then go after the remains with pliers, but does anybody have any other
sage advice?

Gearing question 1999 TJ by
WayneC[_2_]
Just bought my first Wrangler. I love it but after getting used to it I'm
thinking that its geared awful high. I hardly need 5th gear. This is what I
know:
Tires: 30x9.5 R15
Trans: 5 Speed manual
5th gear at 2000 rpm = 60-61 mph (as read by two different GPS units)
When speedometer reads 60 mph...

97 ZJ front shock removal question by
J. Clarke
Went to replace the front shocks and found that the upper attachment for
the one on the left is underneath a rats nest of brake plumbing. I can
get at it with an open end wrench but if it slips it looks likely to
bugger up a brake line.
Is there an accepted procedure for getting that puppy off...

97 ZJ Muffler question by
J. Clarke
97 ZJ Limited 5.2
There's a hole in the muffler--obviously it needs to be replaced.
The question is what with? I want something that's going to last and
not break the bank. Not interested in "throaty sound" or "more power"
or any of that crap, just want something that makes things quiet again...

ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!! (muffler installation) by
J. Clarke
Thought I had all the hard part done--muffler and cat are off, got the
oxygen sensor out (the boss twisted out of the old cat, so this was not
trivial), have all the new Magnaflow and Gibson bits in place under the
car, all that's left is to tighten the clamps. So one of Gibson's fancy...

used parts by
DougW[_2_]
While searching for a full sized spare I
thought why the hell not search junk yards.
After all the OEM for the ZJ wheels is a
mind buggering $400 from the stealership!
Ran across this site http://car-part.com
That site took about five hours of my life.
Found several things locally, now I've got

Noisy lifters by
GGinn
2006 Grand Cherokee. 4.7l. Why is it that when I start it, I am
getting some lifter noise on one side of the engine. It only lasts a
short while then goes away. Anything I can do to get rid of it? It has
74k miles on it. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks,
Greg

I am looking to replace the infinity tweeters that are in my 99 XJ,
and am not having much luck trying to find one that may be a direct
replacement for the factory ones. Do you know who makes a direct
replacement tweeter that would fit in the door pod? I saw some listed
on another forum but they...

97 jeep cherokee speaker problem by
muratk
the right speaker is very faint and comes on full strength after
the heater has been going on for a while in cold months
I took out the radio and cleaned the connections, etc. which
seemed to make a difference but maybe it coincided with a
warm day...
anybody else has this silly problem? and know...

What are you guys using to "condition" the black fenders and bumpers??
The Jeep lives in the Arizona desert and the sun really takes a toll.

1) I'm doubtin' it, Bill.

specialty, next to MoPars, of course. Your slimy paws...
