2004 GTI wiper transmission by
Don Mac Phee
So I'm driving through near white-out (When everything outside of your car
takes the appearance of the inside of a bottle of white-out...) And my
wipers fail. (Slowly sliding down the glass to a stop.)
What are the odds of this NOT being covered under the 4/50 warranty?
Sigh....

Vacuum Reservoir for A/C System by
Papa
This reservoir is attached to the inside surface of the hood, colored black,
and looks like a bunch of tennis balls. Is it really necessary? Will the A/C
work without it? My car is a 1988 VW (Rabbit) Cabriolet Convertible. Thanks
for responding.

Lock problem fixed - 97 VW Golf by
J.C.
Hi everybody, I posted here a few months ago looking for advice about
the lock problem on my driver's door. It turned out to be the common
problem, which is a wimpy piece of metal getting fatigued and breaking.
Thanks largely to Mark Randol's excellent repair...

2002 Passat digital info window by
Rich
The dots on the info window start to din from the top down. Not
completely, but about the top 10 percent of the digits start to...
fade. Kind of like a half circle descending on it. It's hard to
discribe. This is the info window that shows MPG, Miles to refuel,
etc..
Anyone else seen this? It...

Trying to remove the fuel injector seats from the inlet manifold but I can't
get them to move. I've tried unscrewing them but they won't move at all.
Does anyone know how these are removed?

'87 Jetta - Whatsa 'C' code engine? by
Rex B
I'm looking up a fuel pump for my GLI 16V CIS-E.
Catalog asks if it's a C-code engine.
How do I determine that?
I do not have the VIN handy.

Help! My wife just bought a 2001 Cabrio via Ebay and unfortunately it
did not come with an owners manual. That didn't stop her from taking
the top down and now it doesn't want to go back up! Note, it is a
manual top. Thanks in advance. Bill

Why do people have soft spots for VW's? by
Tom Levigne
I have noticed this for over 25 years that some people have a soft spot for
Volkswagens.
Why is this? Because the Germans are smart and worked so hard after the war
to get back on their feet or the cars are unique and functional (they
certainly aren't the most reliable which are Japanese or the...

Odd noise by
[email protected]
Hi,
2001 Jetta, GLS, automatic, 2.0l. 87,000 miles.
When coming to a moderate braking, there is a noise similar to the
"wheel of fortune" wheel. It occurs at about from 35 mph down to 5 mph
as I'm braking. If I brake gently, there is no noise.
The noise appears to come from the left front but...

I just had my 64,000 km check-up. They changed many things and parts but
they did not mention anything about replacing the brake pads. It all came to

They also had a diagnostic check and replaced the Oxygen sensor for another
$362. But now the CHECK light came...

2001 GTi - "clinking" sound over bumps by
1.8 Turbo
My GTi seems to produce a "clinking" sound when I drive over things such as
speed bumps, curbs, etc. I have a lowered the suspension using the Eibach
ProKit springs (1" drop or so) which I put on myself, 4 wheel alignment
subsequently done at the dealer. I've wondered what might be causing...
