91 Wagoneer Wheel bearing replacement problems by
Dave Milne
I am having problems removing part of my front driver's side hub assembly on
my '91 Waggy. It's a Dana 44 6 lug without manual locking hubs.
Here is a pic of the dealer schematic:

Cherokee transfer case forks broken by
[email protected]
I've got a '99 Cherokee Sport with ~90k miles. I was recently driving
in 4wd at around 80mph on a wet highway when I experienced a couple of
bumps from somewhere in the drive train. It felt just like a hit some
rough pavement, in fact that's what I initially thought had happened. I
got out and...

98TJ Rotted freeze-plugs/Bad Antifreeze by
Mood
My 98 TJ SE developed a bad coolant leak out a freeze plug in the head.
When I pulled over to investigate, an awful brown liquid was steaming
out of the block, I thought it was the head gasket. It was towed to the
dealer Saturday, now I'm being told the coolant is bad and the freeze
plugs and...

33s and 4.10s by
Fred Garvin
I'm planning to put 33" MTRs on my Rubicon. I love the way that it will
idle up a hill with the 31s. Will it still do that with 33s and 4.10s?
Thanks!

Weird oil pressure question by
J. Clarke[_2_]
1997 ZJ 5.2.
At startup, no oil pressure, can hear lifters clicking.
Turn it off, turn it back on, oil pressure comes up, no lifter noise.
Oil pressure is a little under 40 per the gage.
Give it a little gas and at somewhere between 1000 and 1500 RPM the oil
pressure goes away, no lifter noise.

CJ5 misfires at high RPM/hard acceleration by
[email protected]
Gentlemen,
I'm having some problems tracking this down. When I accelerate hard
or get up to a certain RPM (about 3000) at cruising, I get popping
coming out of my exhaust & a huge lack in power. The engine has never
stalled, but I can't go any faster in that gear due to the misfiring.
I've done...

How Many Miles? by
sam owens
I was talking with a guy at the collision shop in Ingalls and he was
tellin' me that the engine that is in my 98 Cherokee Sport was among
the best engines ever designed and has been around in various
iterations since the 60's. He lamented that Chrysler decided not to
produce that engine any longer...

I park my CJ in one of those 10'x20' grey plastic garages, was out
wheeling last sunday, and obviously I forgot to turn off lights, battery so

death wobble!! by
Cal
Hi!
It seems our 97 wrangler has developed the 'death wobble.' Occasionally,
after i guess hitting a bump just right, we get a severe wobble in the
steering wheel that will only stop after slowing down. I have checked
linkages in the suspension, and the only play i can find is in the
stabilizer...

Advice needed - recurring rear axle oil seal leak by
Deano
Just had my 86 cj7 (dana 44 rear) into my local jeep mechanic to
replace my oil seal, bearing, retainer etc, and brake pad on the rear
axle, driver's side. When I picked it up he mentioned that he had
noticed a lot of play when he reinstalled the new axle - he guessed
that a PO had spun a bearing....

new battery - about 5yrs by
ps56k[_3_]
Just replaced the battery in our 2001 Grand Cherokee.
So, the orig battery was 2001, then replaced at 2006, now again at 2012.
This would imply a general life of about 5 or 6 years.
Since I was stranded in a Home Depot parking lot,
and had a really hard time jumping the battery
and then keeping...

Flywheel removal by
Carl Saiyed
Got the trans pulled out of my 89 YJ, now trying to remove the flywheel for
surfacing. It doesn't show any signs of being burned, grooved, rutted, or
pitted, however it is shiny. Does it need to be surfaced?
Six 3/4" bolts hold the flywheel on, and the flywheel just cranks the engine
over when I...

(OT or not) Worst time finding a problem by

I'll start off by saying that this forum's archive can be a great
technical resource -- most recently for me a crank sensor issue this
past weekend....but the CJ5 misfire post reminded me of a doozie of a
problem I had a few years back...
Now, we've all got stories about breaking parts, getting...

Easiest cheapest way to change to 4.11:1 by
FDC
A while back I ask here about changing the differential gear ratio in my
2002 TJ, 4.0 (had installed a 4" lift and 33" tires, need to change gear
ratio)
It has been a while since messed with this , got married in there somewhere,
and also lost the thread. Anyway I do remember that basically...

Hi, Got a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport with the 4.0 six cylinder engine. It's
time to change the coolant but I want to know exactly what I'm getting into
first. Everything that I have read about this procedure says to remove the
coolant drain plug from the engine block. I have a factory service...
