1981 rabbit heater core by
I'm a Movie[_2_]
I cannot figure out how to exchange the heater core on my 81 diesel
pickup w/ac.
I took off the two clips from the front of the box, and I was able to
pull off the side vent in order to disconnect the heater hoses, but I
see no way to slide the core out of the box.
Does the box come apart?
AM I...

blown head gasket? by
Ears
What are some symptoms of a blown head gasket, besides white smoke?
Is there a way to diagnose the problem without removing the head?

1997 Jetta GT - sensor problem? Help! by
The DPR
My 97 Jetta GT is having problems. Backfiring when accellerating or under a
load (uphill), lacking power at lower rpms, and while this is happening it
makes a sort of putt-putt sound that sounds like it is coming from
under/behind the front passenger seat. Much worse in the rain (this tells...

99 Jetta Coolant leak due to repair shop mistake by
ewb4arch
A couple weeks ago I had my wife's early 1999 A3 Jetta towed to a
recommended Import repair shop. The car overheated and wouldn't
restart due to a coolant leak. Fortunately it turned out to be a
cracked fitting and nothing too major. Car even runs fine now once it
cooled down and the coolant was...

86 Jetta GLI Power Steering Noise by
HerHusband
My wife has a 1986 Jetta GLI. The power steering has always made a whining
sound when the fluid got low, but I recently replaced a couple of leaking
power steering hoses, and now the steering pump seems to whine all the time
(when making tight turns, not straight driving).
At the same time, the...

'81 VW Rabbit Steering Rack Problem by
jfruniontown
Facts: 1981 rabbit, 1.7L, FI, 4sp, w/a/c, manual steering.
Westmoreland PA built. Tie rods OK.
For the past 5000 miles or so it appeared that when rounding a curve
at 30-40 mph in a right hand turn that the steering would "stick" or
"bind" at a point and then come back, almost as if the steering...

Rear hatch lock problem on 2000 Golf by
SoCalGuy
Ok, so, any of you folks had a problem with the electric rear hatch locking
mechanism? Key works fine. All other locks work. This is my son's car, 500
miles away. He took out the motor and it works with applied voltage. He's
trying to find the relay that controls it without success.
Anyone?

bags, traction control, AC and so forth. I guess we are getting soft
or something. After...

CHECK ENGINE - PART II by
[email protected]
Well, the "epoxy fix" ended one problem, but the check
engine light is back on after being cleared. The code was a P1128, which
someone in this group translated to be "Long Term Fuel Trim B1 System
Too Lean." I did some further internet digging and found that that error
code could be caused by six...
