01 GTI groaning noise while steering by YYZedd
The car makes a horrible groaning noise while I am turning the steering wheel and stops with the wheel in "home" position. Its especially bad when the car is cold. I realize its probably part of the steering mechanism (perhaps the power steering pump or something). Any thoughts anyone? thanks

Polo 1,6 difficult to start by Ja
I have a Polo 1.6 from 1995. When I start it now and then the engine runs but only for about one second, then it stops without any mis firing. If I am unlucky this can be repeated 30 times before it finally continous to run. The second it runs sounds very ordinary, all cylinders ignite. Anyone...

any cheap diesels out there? by [email protected]
Ive been prowling eBay for a while looking for a cheap vw diesel, so I thought I would check here too. It would either be a complete working vehicle or enough stuff to convert my 82 rabbit gasser to diesel. Does anybody have something like that for sale?

Opinions wanted on Jetta by Roy Smith
After years of driving sub-compacts (currently a Chevy Metro), I've decided I need something with a bit more cargo capacity, but I still want good mileage. I've looked at a few of the compact wagons like the Toyota Matrix, Mazda-3, and PT Cruiser, and none of them turned me on. I'm toying with...

2001 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, Electrical Problem? by Brandi3931
My car has recently started having problems. When we get in the car and start to take off, the doors will lock automatically at 15mph. Well now everytime I slow down, say at a light or stop sign, the doors will try to lock themselves again. And when I get out of the car and try to lock the doors...

Audi Duo - they were first after all :) by [email protected]
Just out of historical interest: it appears, that europeans were not sleeping all this time after all, and the Prius is not so revolutionary at all. Back at 1997 there was an Audi A4 Avant (Audi Duo), a hybrid with TDI engine. And you could even charge it from the AC plug at home. The concept was...

Radiator fan puzzle by Vin
The radiator fan in my 1991 Jetta comes on even when the engine is cold. If I start it to move it across the street, on comes the fan. The climate control is not in AC mode nor on defrost and I've changed the radiator fan switch (this car has a two speed motor, so the switch was the three terminal...
