Bob[_53_]
Hi,
What a really grat Newsgroup, and folks.
As I wrote in a previous Post, I have a 2008 Buick LaCrosse with only

Tires are Goodyear Integrity, that came with the new car.
They are already worn out.

Test For Determing If A Front End Alignment Is Required ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
What a good, simple, test to determine if your car needs a front
end alignment ?
e.g., take your hands off the wheel and see how long it takes for
the car to drift to the right or left ?
Probably not a very good test; are there better ones a driver can perform ?
Or,...?

Low Temp Lubricant For Gas Cover Plate by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Looking for a suggestion as to what Brand and actual product to purchase.
It's been cold, really cold up here the last few days.
Sub zero !
The Cover the covers up the gas filler receptacle doesn't always release.
I do not think the problem is between the dash release lever, or the
cable...

Hitch Installation For Bike Carrier ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Considering installing a rear Hitch on car (2015 Subaru Outback) to
carry one of those Hitch mounted bike carriers.
The ones that attach to a Hitch seem a better solution than the ones
that attach to all of the rear trunk door with all of the straps; at
least 6 it seems.
Dealership...

RPM in N Or Park, When Gas Pedal Depressed Fully ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Have a 2009 Buick LaCrosse.
I have probably not looked at this recently, but when I put the
gearshift into either N or P, and depress the gas pedal to the floor,
the indicated RPM never goes above 3,500.
Is this normal ? If not, what might it indicate ?

Sr. Citizen Questions Re Leased Cars by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Very Sr. Citizen now, so please bear with me a bit, even though not a
true technical car question.
Great Forum, and you folks have helped me out a lot in the past.
My guess is that I can drive safely for probably another year or so.
Need a new car.

From OP: Interpretation ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Thanks all for help.
Much appreciated.
So, my understanding from the replies is that even if it were a
defective radiator cap, any coolant that the cap releases, due to its
being defective, would (probably) just end up in that small plastic
overflow jug ?

Cars And Metric Fasteners ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Not a car buff, but was wondering about this:
Are the screws and nuts fasteners on most cars these days metric ?
Does it depend upon if they are made in U.S., or imported ?
Thanks,
Bob

Spare Tire Question by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Would appreciate your opinions on this, please:
How "safe" is it running on the 'toy' spare tire that is
pretty much standard these days for cars, to go e.g. 50 miles at no more
than 45 mph (highway) ?
The spare is of course of a smaller diameter, hence the concern.

Transmission Flush At 100K ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hi,
Have an 2005 Accord V6 with 100,000 miles on it.
Dealership wants to do a radiator flush, transmission fluid
flush/replace, and new spark plugs.
I remember reading somewhere that it is Not a good idea
to do either the transmission flush or the cooling flush as often it
causes more problems...

Dealership "Necessary" For New Timing Belt ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Have a V6 2005 Accord with 110K on it.
So, I guess will need a new Timing Belt and Plugs.
Is this something that should really be done at a Dealership, or can
most any "competent" garage handle it ?
Must the Plugs be those Pt tipped very expensive ones ?

H or V Rating On Tires ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
A general question re the H or V speed rating on passenger "all season"
tires:
Everything else remaining the same,is there any difference in
snow conditions, or on ice, for one rating over the other ?
e.g., might the different compound in one be softer, and thus "a bit"
better on snow...

Tires: Visual Look Question ? by
Bob[_53_]
Hello,
Just put on a new set of Continental All Season "Pure Contact" on
a 2005 Honda Accord EX6. Size is 205/60 R16 V rated.
Tire pressures are where the car's sticker says they should be, around
32 psi.
Never had tires that looked like this.
