1996 jeep cherokee rear brakes lock up by Sevenday61
1996 Jeep Cherokee, 4.0L, manual trans, no ABS. the rear brakes were locking up, noticed that the park cables were not fully releasing and the drums were oversized. Replaced the park cables, shoes and drums, they worked great for about 2 days and are now locking up again, sometimes just a little,...

89 Jeep XJ 4.0 auto (includes 40 chan. CB radio with dual 4' antennas). Random cutting out while driving, has stalled completely, road speed not a factor. Stalling at idle (acts/ smells flooded on restart ... sometimes.) Replaced: fuel pump, Ignition module, IAC, fuel pressure regulator, fuel...

Bendix should never have been allowed to partner with Renault by Budd Cochran[_2_]
Or the continuing saga of the hiccuping '89 XJ. I got the new ICM installed and it didn't help a bit. 30 seconds after first start after the install and the durn thing died. Oh, it did restart ... after sitting for an hour, so I double checked everything ... except fuel rail pressure. So I let...

Aw, dang! Ignition control module bit the dust!! by Budd Cochran[_2_]
(89 Cherokee 4.0) The hiccups eased a bit but then came back after the tune up. In fact, the dang thing quit as I was pulling out of the local O'Reilly's and I had to get a tow home. Mandi (the O'Reilly's manager) had just previously suggested it could be the ICM and to bring it in for testing...

Another automotive technician eats his words by Budd Cochran[_2_]
I had been trying to track down a random miss in my 89 XJ (4.0 Renix, auto) for the past year ... yeah, it was that random. Then it finally became somewhat regular with the engine cutting out at highway speeds for a second or two and just a fairly regular miss in between at all...

2001 GC negative battery cable by ps56k[_3_]
Have a 2001 GC - mostly comes out in Chicago area winters... Several years ago, the "negative" battery terminal corroded, and was cut, and attached with a clamp-style cable connector. Now, after a few years, I'm wondering about the connection. With a new battery from 2012, the crank seems...

93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Cranks, But No Start by Casper
My 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee recently started having starting issues. At first it would start after 2-3 tries, but now it continually takes longer and longer to get it to turn over. First I thought it was the battery (weak or being drained), but after a full recharge and replacment, the problem...

Please help me understand this. Five or seven years ago I I bought a high mileage Wrangler with a standard 3-speed automatic transmission. After two changes of filter and transmission fluid and minor tigntening of the front band over these past years I assert that all is now well in the forward...

2001 GC - P/S leak by ps56k[_3_]
Our son was home for Easter. He has our old 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Noticed a spot on the street. Opened hood. Looks like the Power Steering "area", just under the air intake & box filter. The P/S stick was low, so guessing the O-ring or seal is leaking.

Renix random engine cranking without starting problem .... SOLVED!!!! by Budd Cochran[_2_]
Yep, and it had bugged me for a couple months now: I'd try to start my 89 XJ with the (numerous expletives considered but not said) Renix MFI and it would crank fine but no start. Always before it would start up after I'd (A) moved the vehicle out of a parking stall in case I needed a tow/jump,...

97 ZJ Electrical Problem by J. Clarke[_4_]
Power windows and power locks don't respond to any of the door controls on any door. Locks do lock and unlock with the remote. Power mirror on driver's door doesn't work (the one on the passenger door doesn't either but it's disconnected so I don't know for sure if it's part of the problem, and...

1997 ZJ 5.2 clunking and vibrating by J. Clarke[_4_]
The ZJ has been vibrating a bit for a while. Last week it got progressively worse and in a parking lot I felt a distinct side-to-side component at around 5-10 mph--I stopped and checked the lug nuts for fear that a wheel was coming loose. Note that this is _not_ the Death Wobble--I had that a...

arg.. st00pid wiper motor by DougW[_4_]
93ZJ.. silly rear wiper motor decided to run all by itself. Probably a short somewhere, but for now pulling fuse#9 will keep it put. Intertubes not helping much, but then again most things I can find will tell me, "buy a new Jeep". :) But then again the Heep is old enough to legally drink. Can't...
