Need help verifying part no. on VW Type 4 head by [email protected]
Greetings, Some time ago, on ebay, I bought a pair of NOS type 4 heads. The part no. is 211 101 351A. It is my limited understanding that the early 411 Volksies, although they had a type 4 engine, used a different head from the early 70s buses, which, in turn were different from the heads on the...

Door hinge pins on Super Beetle by carl mciver
Do they come out the top or the bottom? I'm going to make a press to get them out but didn't want to shove them out the wrong way. I lube the hell out of one hinge and it keeps getting so tight I'm afraid I'll start cracking the body around the hinge.

Speedo Cables ? by Iowa883
My 67' fiberglass buggy is eating speedo cables like crazy. I go through 3-4 in a good summer. What might I be doing wrong ? Maybe routing ? Although I don't have any tight bends in the cable. Thanks, Iowa883

Greetings, all, So after a couple year hiatus, I'm back with another question. I've decided to burn in my engine I'm building out of the bus, and need some ideas on how to construct an engine stand that will hold the fully assembled engine, supply fuel and electricity safely, and leave me...

What's the BEST firewall insulation material? by Marco
Hi, I have to install new sound absorbing material in the engine compartment. My Mexibeetle doesn't have any installed. What is the BEST firewall material available today? I can't imagine that the old tarboard firewall stuff that was used 30 or 40 years ago is still state of the art. Found some...

68' Westy Front Door Alignment by Fish
This is a problem I have posted before. I utilized some of the suggestions offered here, but........ After aligning the doors vertically so the latches align and the top and/or bottom of the doors don't rub, the doors now rub towards the rear where the latch is. After checking things over again, I...

Engine Drop by Brennan O'Reilly
Hey All, I've been a long time lurker and now a first time poster. I've been reading ramva on and off since '98 and thought it about time to post and introduce myself. I live in Seattle and bought a '66 vert (yukon rust colored) that is in definite need of restoration. The reason I'm posting is...

Blaupunkt Radios by [email protected]
I have been bidding /watching a used early 80's blue dot radio to put in my 74 bug. I can't believe the thing ended up selling for almost $80! Add shipping & its almost $100. I think that is crazy! Why are these old radios so valuable?

Most cost effective way to get my '70 baja "Porschewagen" back on road??? by [email protected]
Gentlemen, Here's a knotty little problem for you to chew on... About 12 years ago, I bought an unfinished 1970 baja project. The seller decided to move on to Corvettes. With the deal I got a more or less "finished" baja kit, new rims, a set of new off-road tires, new interior, re-done...

Gasoline Heaters by Iowa883
Found a VW "Junkyard" today . I am thinking about getting one to turn into a Baja . It is a 66 with a gasoline heater, there is also a spare heater in the back seat. How much are gas heaters going for ? They are complete and they want $100 for the whole car minus the engine. Iowa883

Need measurements from a good '68 by Fish
Here's the deal. My '68 westy took a shot in the nose before I owned it. This pushed the A (hinge) pillar back a tad and the doors don't line up and close correctly. I am going to try moving them back using a porta power press. Unfortunately a previous owner just bent the doors until they closed,...
