What engine is this? by
Bart Bervoets
Today a scrap dealer called me that he had a beetle
engine in.
I went to look, not a beetle, looks very similar though.
Block looks like a 1600 but large gear in the center
instead of pully, flat distributor, on heads are 2 valve
covers with each a rocker arm, so one rocker arm
per cylinder.
Also...

Do to the orginal engine...

Shift rod bushing.... by
DUG
The 71 Super I bought had one of the sloppiest shifters out of all of
them I have had. Once I located my local Bug store I picked up a rear
coupler, a shift rod bushing and a quick shift kit. When I went to put
the shift rod bushing in I notoced that the hole was wore out in a huge
oval. You...

Weld/metal protection from rust during cold weather? by
Remco
While merrily derusting and repairing, I need to protect the work on
my frame and make sure it doesn't rust again before it is bolted to
the body.
A couple of days ago this was not a problem because it was pretty
warm: POR15 and RustMedic cures fine when it is warm and makes a nice
hard...

plate/clutch disc/throwout bearing, header, sheetmetel ... like the one I
just had built including heater boxes!) motor starting with...
